Man, this was really long. Realism is tough xD It took around 21 hours over the last few weeks, but it's finally done! I bet I have a few more white hairs than I did before (as many as you can have at the age of 21) Wait, 21 years, 21 hours, must be a sign! @.@Anyway, I can see some mistakes here, one of them too obvious and I'm ashamed of it, but there's nothing I can do now. Let's just say that someone bent the space. Or the paper. Or your vision. Anything but my fault xD
I do not own these pancakes . I usually make them a bit smaller and I never serve them with butter and honey (I never have honey around q.q). Lol.
Hope you like it! I may start some commission thing soon and this time add realism too.

Well, it took a while to draw that. And also a lot of practice to get here and as long as I live and my hands can keep up I'll continue practicing. Good luck with improving, btw! ^^

About that space bending mistake you're talking about. I think (and hope) you are referring to a plate, which I don't think is a mistake at all. It looks like one of those awesome handmade plates and it's nice to look at

Yes, I was referring to the plate, I went with the tablecloth a bit too high I guess, when the plate should've been slightly bigger. But I'm glad you found a reason for it, hehe. Thank you very much for the comment, and for faving it, I'm glad you like it!

haha, very unusual subject and I'm sure some were harmed during and after the making of this. 
You didn't ask for critique but I just have to say if you have a little more contrast (blacker part) in the pancakes that'll make this even better. Right now the darkest part is the mat and my eyes keep getting drawn to that. The mat is also excellent done and I admire your patience for drawing all the texture!

I like the unusual, what can I say! I actually used an image as a reference, so if they were harmed, I was not the culprit
I'm always open to critiques of any kind, that's how I get to learn more! I see what you mean, the reason I usually don't use darker shading on objects that have lighter colors is that I'm afraid it might get confused with the color black (or non-color, however you like to call it). That's why I refrain from doing it, especially on portraits. I saw it on other people's works and it looks good, but I was just afraid of trying it. I guess I will try it in the future.
About the mat, I didn't draw it in one go, I had to get back on the pancakes from time to time since, even though it was fun at first, it got repetitive. Anyway, thank you very much for the comment and your honest opinion on it, I appreciate it!

I totally get you mean! A little trick that you can try, is convert your image to black and white, and adjust the contrast in photoshop or any photo editing software, to play around with dramatic settings. If you're just adjusting a photo you won't be scared of messing it up. Find the look that you like and then you can observe how dark is the darkest part and which parts are dark.
I do that for color works too, changing the color settings to explore ideas I would never dare to try in traditional media.
