Description This was never meant to make it into my dA gallery. It's just a portrait for a friend, based on his B&W photograph. But then -

Sometime back I registered an account with digitalart.org . Last week it occurred to me that maybe I should upload something to my gallery, so I thought I'd just put this one up while I figured what else to submit. I then proceeded to forget about it... Until, to my complete shock, I received an email this morning congratulating me for having this picture chosen as Art of the Week.

I guess I'll archive it here after all.

Well the tonal values look a little off; should expect to see more highlights there, even if it's a dimly lit space. Still, nice neutrals and details.

Why the blazes not?!? Fantastic work, particularly when one knows you "made up" the palette here--it's just gorgeous!! The light and shadowing, the blending of the tones, the overall warmth and detail...I'm running out of verbage, Dear! You should be awesomely proud of this--I'm bowled over!! Instant !!

Er... mind you, I have no idea what the actual colour is. So I made it hazel-ish. They could be purple, for all I know.

Purple would, indeed, be a very rare eye color. Probably best that you went with the hazel.

Thanks very much, Bats! And LOL, you know, I made that brush as a *textured* (scribbly) one, but when I used it at 5 spacing, it mysteriously came out... oily. Ah well, stranger things have happened... and I kind of liked how it turned out anyway.

It would appear that digital art has many surprises to offer. And luckily you do have CTRL+Z at your disposal should something go awry. You're most welcome! Your paints just keep getting better. It's getting more difficult to leave proper comments. Soon I'll just have to Squee, fav and run. Keep this up, and one day I might have to commission you for a painting.

CTRL+Z was what I missed most while drawing Stille Nacht. Particularly when my pen dropped and left a horrific scar across the picture.

If it's a portrait of your twin, I'll gladly comply. I'm kidding!! I'm just finding excuses to draw her.
