Description I don't have much to say on this one, for a change.
I'm still relying on layer modes to do my shading, a bad habit to make, and one I'm going to try and break in my next piece. All in all, I like how this came out; the violin gave me a lot of chances to add extra details and pay attention to these, and I enjoyed being able to do that.

I like this other than the structure of the face and hands. Her face itself is expressive in its own way. It's also easily interprted. Good job.

I have to agree with Kittyofdoom on the hands and shoulder issue. The lighting though is suberb!

I love the hair. The only problems I see here are in the left hand and right arm. The hand holding the stick for the violin (I don't know what that's called )doesn't seem to be really grasping it; it would fall out of the hand. Also, a bit of the right arm should be visible, around the shoulder, but there is nothing there. Overall, nice piece.

Thanks, but the reason it doesn't look like she's grasping it is because that's how you correctly hold the bow. I play violin, and I found it odd and awkward at first, but it's actually the best way to hold it.

...

Wow, I forgot to color the sleeve on the other side.
Thanks for pointing that out. xD

I have no idea how long you've been playing the violin, but I can certainly tell you that that is not the correct way to hold the bow. [link] I also feel the need to tell you that her bow is over the fingerboard, which often makes violins sound bad, and her left hand doesn't look quite right to me.

I think you also need to work on proportions because even in your more current pieces your arms look a little too thick (or the torso isn't quite wide enough), and your heads are just a tad too big for the body (unless you are going for a chibi style, and in that case you need to make your heads larger, but I can't really criticize you if you are making your heads the size they are on purpose).

I don't mean to be mean with this post by the way. I'm just a little ocd, and I can't help but point these things out so that you can fix them in the future. Dx

I love critique, thanks ^_^

The things you pointed out, actually, I pretty much already noted, though the way I arranged my layers in this one makes it very difficult to go back and change these things. I noticed a lot of things (like the perspective and where the bow was) after it had all been set, and it would have been very difficult to change them. My violin teacher always told me to put my pinky on the screw, with the fingers more spread out, to that's how I drew it. :/

That is pretty much how you hold the bow on the violin/viola, but the pinky should not be on the screw. And in the head of the violin, the top part seems like it's too low. But overall, I must say that is is truly a masterpiece. I don't think I'd be able to better; which technically isn't worth much because I can't draw, teehee (;

Ah, you did well on the instrument! Her hair is probably the best, though.
