Description

Let's have a random dragon, shall we?  Easy piece to pass a sunny afternoon while I was on holiday over Easter - just a dragon, looking all dragon-y and stuff.  Karismacolour and polychromos colour pencils on A4 black paper, with some post-production in Photoshop.

Look at you dragon, in your green dragon-y smugness; soul of fire, heart like ice..

It's kinda ironic, normally the color green is associated with the earth element, yet this dragon is breathing fire. If you looks at it another way, it may represent the fiery core that resides with in the earth's center. As in the green outside is the earth crust and the fire is the magma core.

Or the green color represents calm emotions, normally green is a very soothing color. And fiery red is all the rage or ones fighting spirit. Maybe the green color can represents one's calm exterior, while the fire being expelled can be the fighting spirit that resides within raging to get out. All the frustration finally released in the form of a fiery inferno.

I like your way of looking at it. Both options are intriguing but personally I really identify with the second there... calm on the outside but there's a raging inferno within. Nice...

Thanks! I've taken to working on black paper lately (my submissions on DA are jumping around on the last couple years' of stuff), it really makes the colours pop.

Oh, black paper. I would like to try out that too. If there is some black paper in my gallery than it's only because I invert the white Paper. xD
