Description My wife asks me why I don't draw happy things. I protested that Eidolon IS happy, especially when he's dissecting live humans.

I'm very pleased indeed with this picture - it's probably the finest colour work I've ever done. Elements include a lion fish, a epaulette shark's eye, two dire wolf skulls from La Brea, my own hand and some of Lister's anatomy diagrams, dinosaur vertebrae and a human shoulder joint, back-to-front. Plus twelve hours painting by mouse.

the suggestion of space in this piece is very lovely. the darks are so rich and deep, and Eidolon himself stands out among them very nicely, despite being dark himself.

great work!

why thank you! adding the second hand at top right really made the picture work for me - once I put something up there I thought YES! this is going to be a GREAT picture

i *love* having moments like that

the composition is really nice, too, as you said. the suggestiveness of it all... i really like how it tells a story without holding the viewer's hand.
