It does, and it is. Well, a repro
Ways were the ancient paths/roads, and these were marked,
usually at junctions, with distances & directions.

No. This was one of a number created in Somerset, for the Millennium, in & around the Mendips, Glastonbury & Wells.

Interesting. I would have though that it was an "old" marker.
The closest I have come to seeing something similar here is stone cairns marking out trails.

You can still find ancient markers (over 1,000yrs old) on many of the
old Tracks/Ways in the UK, but nowadays, folks have forgotten about them

Things of that age have an air about them that almost demands a bit of reverence.
