Blender render of the orbital nuke from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Early drafts of the script and Arthur C. Clarke's novelization make the identity of these spacecraft more clear. The final movie opted for a more abstract anti-war message.

Behind-the-scenes shots of the movie have this stylish minimalism. The models are just shot against black backgrounds, so I tried to recreate that.

In the final movie it's hard to see but each of the orbiting nukes has a flag for there respective countries. This one's from West Germany.
