Description
I used my new charcoal coated paper and then a sharp eraser to "erase" this image, then another piece of charcoal to fill in areas i wanted a bit darker. it was a good charcoal learning experience!!time: appx. 1hr.

Good work, sounds like a good technique you used for it to get some good darks. People forget that you can use a rubber to "draw". I use a putty rubber for all of my pencil works to get highlights, etc. Anyway, this is very good work

The horse in the foreground looks a bit funky, like the head is too long or not thick enough, and the neck doesn't look thick or shapely enough either. But that may just be because it's mostly hidden in shadow. The horse in the background is gorgeous--the entire piece is. I've never seen a piece like this, on charcoal-coated paper. I may just have to stalk you.

hahaha yes, i really dont like the foreground horse at all. but i feared that if i tried to change it, i would mess it up more, so i didnt touch it. you pretty much picked out all the things i didnt like about it

I have the same problem. If there's something I don't like about a piece and I try to change it, I end up botching the whole thing, so I just let it irk me. Pain, isn't it.

I don't know anything about horses but their poses look brilliant to me. The mane -- is that the correct word for horses? whatever -- is a bit spikey on the leading horse. Unless he's a punk rock horse, in which case: rock on, punk-rock-horse.
