Hi guys! Here's my first piece submitted here!
This is a portrait meant to signify the connection between modern culture and one's cultural heritage. Medium: oil painting
I submitted this into a contest to win money for my school's art program and to raise awareness for art education everywhere!

in the background stands a gate and a wall, nearer to the girl is a traditional door and it projects height, might and power but also impractical since its too high for the girl to even reach the knobs. the traditional symbolizes impracticality. and the girl with her moderness of everything she has with her symbolizes practicality and a relaxed position.

So... why is it in "Surreal" section? I think it's pretty realistic one, don't you? And, by the way, this picture is very good, with a good concept.

Yes, it doesn't really seem to fit in the surreal section, but the concept for this piece was based off a dream, so I decided to put it there. Just think of it as a product of my warped logic

I like this a lot. I feel as though you could have moved yourself a bit more to the left since the side of your head seems to awkwardly line up with the side of the door on the right but that's just a minor gripe.
