Featured on the cover of Life Magazine on April 20, 1962, this Howell Conant photograph of Audrey Hepburn accompanied an article entitled SPRING...and a New Hat for Audrey Hepburn. I personally shudder to think of all those poor birds with the beautiful blue feathers who either died or went bald to creat such a bizzare hat. But either way, it creates a striking and intreiguing effect visually.
I think her smile is charming, her eyes are stunning, and her hat is simply fun to look at.
Done in freehand with Prismacolors, this drawing ended looking less realistic than I had intended, yet it is still one of my favorites, probably due to the great trouble all the shading and varients in color-tone I had to pay attention to. Don't compare it with the original photograph and you won't see how different it is!
