Description
This is called "Barbra Experiment from Hell".I got some very expensive and thoroughly dreadful chalk pastels that I was so excited to use...but I didn't use them in a way that I think they were suited, ie detailed work that has desired extreme definition. This was part of a photo shoot for her album 'Barbra Steisand's Greatest Hits', the first one int he 1960s...and it was very attractive with great soft tints and strinking shadows etc. So I did my first chalk pastel of this and smudged everywhere, got chalk pastel all over my grandfather's kitchen, myself, and the rest of the paper, hence why I gave up the pristine viging paper look and just decided to smudge the hell out of it to make it look purposeful.
Actually, I'm not that disgusted by it and indeed I'm kind of pleased by it, but all the same, it wasn't what I wanted in the least.

Yea i used chalk in art class once..messy.. lets just say yours came out great in comparison (and great in general).That hair and hair stlye so pretty.

It may not be what you wanted, but this is still gorgeous. The pastels make it look so soft and almost dreamy. It may not have your usual detail, but I still like the look of it. I love how her blue eye really stands out!

That is very pretty. Even if it is not what you were going for... The whole image is really fantastic!!! The hair is amazing! So many tones and colors and the strokes really work well to show the flow of the hair! And you did capture her likeness! Her eye is wonderfully done!

I don't think I've ever seen her hair not up in some crazy style. Hello, Dolly was my favorite for that. I wonder if it's all her own hair? I swear I've seen this before, but I can't recall. Great job, as always. Draw more from Funny Girl!
