Description I had to bring the brother to soccer practice yesterday and today, so I took along this fun picture (from this pack [link] ) from `lockstock 's gallery. I love her look in the picture, for those of you who've read Jane Austen's Emma, she reminds me of Emma herself. She's got that fun, curious, and somewhat devious look about her in this picture, and I thought I'd give it a try. Graphite, took about 4 hours. I don't really know what I did to her lip there... I'll have to go back and fix it...
I've left out some details for convcenience's (read, laziness's) sake, and it's pretty rough but I actually like it.
Have a great nigh, I'm going to bed (just finished watching Rush Hour 3 with the bro, it was hilarious).
Peace!

That hat was pretty easy actually. It's mostly just some random lines, there isn't that much detail in it

Yeah
Sorry - I meant the hat with the roses and everything on it ^^
I know that just the hat is not very complicated

Yeah the roses were a pain, they wouldn't get dark enough, but it turned out all right ")

Well thanks! And it's something about her expression isn't it? That curious and impish look

You're welcome!
I've never read the book myself, but I've seen a movie based on that book. Emma had a look just like that quite often in the movie, it's definitely so her!

We had to read it for one of my English classes, and I it was good. I've only seen part of the old movie, and it looked so horrible that I had to turn it off haha.

I'll have to read it sometime.
Hehe I'm not sure if it's the same movie we're talking about then... i think there's more than just one movie of that book

I sure hope so, that one was in a Jane Austen box set of movies, and looked like it was going to be 5 hours long
The half hour that we watched was a very painful experience haha.

Me too! Have you seen the new Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen?

balloonfactory In reply to EuroFoxx [2008-01-02 16:03:53 +0000 UTC]

No, 'cos I'm in love with the older version with Colin Firth. When he walked out of the lake all soaking wet with his Victorian shirt open just about every woman in the UK fell dribbling on the floor You must see it if you haven't already

EuroFoxx In reply to balloonfactory [2008-01-03 03:34:04 +0000 UTC]

See... the thing is... I can't. After seeing a clip of it on youtube, I didn't think I'd like it very much, and Matthew Macfadyen is so much better looking to me I have the same problem, I think. Once you have the perfect Mr. Darcy set in your mind, you don't want to risk anyone else mixing in that image... you know what I mean? I should watch the long one with Firth because it's more indepth (as it should be... isn't it about 6 hours long?), but I also love the shorter version because I've read the book and can fill in the gaps. Anyway, maybe one day if the DVD hits me in the face I'll watch that version, till then I'm probably going to stick with the new one haha

Now! It's time to push yourself forward. You've been at this level for a while now. You must be getting bored, so time to push on.

Yeah, you'll wait a loooong while since I have no idea what to do in the background... In the meanwhile, I had this sort of neat idea for a fantasy-ish painting that's totally not my regular copycat thing (you'd be proud), but realistically, who knows if it'll get done.

Haha, joo, tiesin että se oilis yllätys... osaan vielä vähän, mutta se haalistuu lisää joka päivä. I was born in Finland, but we moved to Canada when I was 9. I guessed you were Finnish by your username, by the way... the "nen" was a dead giveaway

I never thought a canadian would start speaking finnish to me! I'm still a little shocked World is a small place, huh

EuroFoxx In reply to kalmanen [2008-01-02 03:22:13 +0000 UTC]

En käytä messengeriä paljon koska mä aina jään "suusta kiinni" (?) niin kun äiti tykkää sanoa. Käytän kyllä mun "notes". Voitas lähettää viestejä niin
Just in case that didn't make sense in parts (which I wouldn't doubt!), I don't use my msn much because I always get stuck on there for hours, and then nothing else gets done If you want to exchange notes, though, that would work fabulously because I check them almost every day

kalmanen In reply to EuroFoxx [2008-01-02 05:07:02 +0000 UTC]

Sähän puhut sujuvaa suomea! Ja kyl tiedän mitä tarkoitat (sanonta on et jää suustaan kiinni), sitä saattaapi * cough cough * olla muissakin ihmisissä... Pois sellane minusta! Koskaan jääny suustani kiinni missään And like I said, you made perfect sense, I'll be sending notes to you ^^.
