I actually wanted to make this post back in 2005, but then I totally missed out, and now I have the single worst hangover I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing, which is exactly why the title of this deviation is utterly retarded, and why I completely refuse to use periods.Pencils: LeSean Thomas

That's an effect of the brush, which happens to be the same as for that other piece: dull conte in Painter 9. It's in the image description, actually. :]

How did you manage to get it to look so much like texture? Amazing shading and all

The dull Conte tool in Painter creates that texture automatically.

One more thing... Do you always use the Dull Conte tool when you color?

No.
In Painter I use artist oils, dull conte, chalk, arnold tsang's brushes. In Photoshop I use all sorts of random custom as well default brushes.

May I ask what your tablet settings are set to? Mine seems to have very much... Contrast. Either it gives me a thin line or a thick line, as if there's nothing in between.

Tablet is set to medium pressure. I use an Intuos 2, so that'd be the second button from the right on the top of the tablet.

-Shot- Oh, wow. Now this is embarassing. 
Not only is the drawing nice, but the coloring is too. I'm always amazed at those artists who can accomplish that comic book style coloring, shadowing, highlighting, and detail. Beautiful use of color and very smooth blending. Share some of that talent, yo!
