This was has many different factors going on. On its dark so some thing bad or mystery is going on.

This seem very... Hmm, the best way how to explain would be that i have strange feelings from it, somehow disturbing... It seem very impressive. And it seem as if it was painted with oil paint on canavas, I like when digital art has the depth of traditional picture.

Damn, Sis, this piece is incredible. You've got so many things just right- the murky swamp-forest atmosphere, the balance of power between the two figures, and the colours are fantastic. The riding beast looks a little odd, where its legs attach to its body in particular, but otherwise this is damn good stuff.
Also was convinced it was painted on canvas until you pointed out otherwise. ^^

The grain def gives it a more realistic feel to it. I think it also gives the whole subject a more- darkened feel, grungy even. I like it. Well done!

Not all 'textures' can be pulled off well, even if the grain is showing from the scanned image- but I honestly think it works well with this- adds something to the whole atmosphere.

It's tre =/ Badly done texturing can totally ruin an image, but like you said, experimenting is the way to go!

Ooooh, looks nice. The lighting and shading is mysterious, and the rabbit is my favorite part. That bull is really cool-looking too.
Background is nice as well, adds to the shadowy feeling.
