Description This watercolor has been sitting on my desk being picked at for a while now. Perhaps since February, actually... I can't even remember now! At last it has come to the point where I can pick no more, and so I am releasing it into the world. Forcing myself to do backgrounds as detailed as the figures, which I still struggle with. If anyone has the secret to painting good looking grass, please share.

On a misty morning, the Writers sit in the woods, about to begin their stories. What do they write? Everything, every whisper of the wind, every rustle of the leaves. It all has a story, and they are the writers. The faerie is an apprentice, and I have a feeling that she doesn't always write what she's supposed to. She just doesn't look like the well behaved sort of faerie. Her teacher, fortunately, is of the earth and very forgiving.

Thank you so much! I need to do more detailed, in depth paintings like this. They take forever but are always so much more fun when finished.

Wow, fantastic! This is absolutely beautiful I really like the way you've done the mist, and the fungus on the trees, but I absolutely love the rocks - I always have lots of trouble doing watercolour rocks, and you've done then brilliantly here (takes down notes for next time)

Rocks are hard! I'm still not sure if I have it quite right. The secret is alcohol. Lots of very little drops of alcohol into the wet paint gives it that splotchy lichen look.
