Description "Oh come on, Rach, you cannot be serious! You're a harlequine expert and a driver. You cannot out ride me!" Azzie chortled, rolling her eyes as she brushed down the newly returned Neko. The Nordanner stallion turned his head in the cross ties to watch the arguing women.

"You wanna bet Azzie!" Rach shouted in anger, her temper quickly growing the longer the argument wore on. Sage pranced on her rope, tossing her head and neighing in slight distress. Stop it! Stop, stop, STOP! the mare shouted into the witchlings mind. Rach grimaced and rubbed her temples.

"Whacha willing to bet?" Azzie sneered at Rachel. While she had been excited to hire the woman she was quickly growing to detest her. Rachel smiled to her, rubbed Sages neck and tilted her head in thought.

"You know that ride you were going to take? I'll do it. and if I can't do it you can have sage."

"I don't want sage! I have my own Harlies!" Azzie shouted. Neko neighed and reared in the cross ties. "Easy boy, easy." Azzie scratched his shoulders, trying to sooth the blue roan stallion.

"Well. . . . then I'll buy you a horse- any horse you want no matter the cost." Azzie thought about the offer.

"And if you can make it?" She asked, raising a brow into a tight arch.

"I get Neko." It was no lie that miss harlequine expert adored the blue stallion. She couldn't get enough of him, in fact, and had tried to talk Azzie into letting her ride him. Azzie stared at her for a long time before nodding.

"Alright, you can have neko if you win. But you're going to need proper tack and supplies for what I do. Come on lets get you set up."

Azzie miss i'm-prepared-to-sleep-outdoors-everywhere-i-go had a custom saddle made for Sage and packed up very basic supplise- nothing to help with Camping but stuff that would be necessary for any ride in azzie's honest opinion. A small first aid kit, some wraps for the harlequine mares legs- because she was too frail not to be wraped according to azzie- and a few spare pieces of tack. The rest of the saddle bags were empty.

"There you'll have to figure out how to get supplies on the ride but work with what you have and get out of my sight."

With that Azzie sent the half-prepared, untrained team out to take her place on the trail for the cross country adventure.

"Well what do you think, Sage?" Rach asked her mare, looking out across the waters to the island. The ferry moved in a slow roll across the large lake, leaving the harlequine mare sea sick and misserable. I think this was a bad idea, Rachel. I can't promise anything about this trip. Rachel sighed. Her innate ability to communicate with animals was hardly going to help and she was just barely adequate at the few spells she had memorized- none of which were very usefull. Three healing spells, a leverage spell, a levetation spell and two fire spells were not always helpful. Maybe being a born and bred witch wasn't as usefull as the classes she'd left behind after all.

The looming island grew bigger and creepier teh closer they got to it. Gloom exuded from the dark, dismal trees as surely as thin fog began to ooze out from their trunks to swallow the beach and later the lake. "Alright everyone off." The ferry man bellowed. Sighing one last time Rach pulled herself into the heavy western saddle Azzie had insisted she use and clucked to Rachel. The harlequine mare shook her mane and trotted, gratefully, off the boat. good riddance she snorted and flicked her red and white tail at the vessel.

"I don't see anyone else." Rach whispered, suddenly feeling very small and alone as the trees swallowed them and erased the beach from sight. I don't smell anyone either. . . . maybe they're already ahead of us? Sage suggested to her rider, "yeah. . . ." rach whispered and looked around. "Maybe. . . lets go see." She leaned forward and Sage obediently stretched into a canter, eye balling the trees around them and huffing moist, warm breathes into the cold, dense air. Claustraphobia would set in before long, Rach could already feel it clawing at the back of her mind. Maybe this really wasn't such a good idea after all.
