This dragon is made from a single square sheet of painted paper.
I have used filters to alter the colors in photoshop.

Your folding is so clean! Do you usually fold these in one go or do you do a few practice pieces?

I almost always do several practice runs with regular paper to get the hang of the model and try out a few things.
Because it takes time to prepare a painted paper (painting, drying, re-cutting) I try to wait till I'm sure I can make a good one before going through the process.

I only have a few, since I give most of them away to friends and family after they were pictured.
(well, some have also been damaged, or lost on the field. Β May their paper fibers decompose in peace.)
It is however a good idea to make a scene with many of them together, regardless of mismatched proportions to each other.

Yes, I have lost more than one in water (from puddles, to ponds, to even a river once) helped by an unexpected gust of wind.
I had a phase where I had a small paper animal invasion going on but, it didn't last.
Β Now, I let them invade and clutter other peoples shelves instead.

Yes, the bird base design leaves the legs thick, small and difficult to work with but, I really like the look; and it is fun to fold too (apart from the sink in the legs).
