Description I wasn't lying when I said I was working on a Huntress costume! This particular version of Huntress has been on my dream list of costumes for a long time. I have a soft spot for the ridiculous belly window and booty shorts.

------------

Costume Construction:

The bodysuit it made from a custom pattern drafted by myself. The suit has a combination of modified princess seams and angled hip darts to shape the suit and belly window. The bodysuit is made from black and white metallic spandex. The bodysuit has built in leggings for the sake of 'modesty' and comfort.

The boots are boot-covers created over a pair of combat boots. I used wet look purple spandex for the base of the boot and ribbed a section under the knee for detailing and to help keep the boot up. The strapping and lower shoe guard are made from purple vinyl. The knee pads are highly modified children's knee guards which I ripped apart, rebuilt and then coated in a semi gloss glaze.

The belts and pouches are made from the same purple vinyl. I created my own pattern for the pouches and engineered my own design for the belts. My belt buckle is made from resin marbled in black and gold.

My arm guards are altered children shin guards which I've heat formed, painted and altered to fit my arms. My cape clasps are resin casted and painted with a metallic gold. The cape is made from a lightweight poly-satin and the same metallic white spandex used on the suit. The bottom of the cape is heat sealed to allow the cape to flow in the wind.

The mask is made from craft foam, heat & bond and purple wet look spandex. I also sewed elastic onto the temples of the mask to hold it on.
I created a paper mock-up of my face to get the spacing of the eyes, nose and jaw correct. Then I used the paper pattern to create a craftfoam mock-up to see how the heat forming would fit my face and to make sure craftfoam was the right material to use. I followed this up with cutting out a final copy of the mask from craftfoam, sewing on the elastic and applying heat and bond to the surface. I attached the wet look spandex to the heat and bond, then I cut off the excess fabric around the mask. I then heated the mask and moulded it to my face.

And you make a killer Huntress in the version of her costume which is my favorite anyway. Nice collaboration of photos with the two different poses.
With your passion for realism in finding all the right accessories and fabrics, you don't just dress up as a character, You bring the character to life in the flesh!!!!

You've done your homework on this look. It looks striking like her in Gail Simone's run with Birds of Prey. It is also the only look I've seen except for the costume she wore in Cry For Blood.

There are few women who can actually resemble a comic reality, not to say that all women who have tried are not beautiful, it's just that few have the ability to do and you really have done it.

You look stunning in that dress and I must say you are really beautiful, so clear that you should know and I doubt not you wear any costumes either the hero or villain in the world of Marvel or DC Comics will fit to perfection.

I do not really explain whether or not women are so beautiful seeing you capases to exist but I think if, I say this with all respect.

Amazing costume reproduction! There is SOMETHING about this costume that just makes it awesome, regardless of how impractical it is for crime fighting!

The entire costume design has that awesome surreal factor that I love in comics

It really does! Sexy, impractical yet somehow very practical... It's just wonderful! I think Huntress has one of the most varied wardrobes of any character and I'm actually thinking I might make this one when I get around to making a Huntress costume myself. I'd initially thought I'd make one of the full suits, but the more I see this costume, the more I want to make it!

Awesooooooooome! ā™„

This costume may be a little ridiculous with the belly window and all, but I've always had a soft spot for it too. Which is to say that you bringing it to life makes me a little giddy. X3

I want to see this in person so badly! Mostly so I can flail at you in person~ ;3

I've never been a fan of this particular Huntress costume, but I really think you've converted me to liking it. I think the details on the padding and I guess seeing it on a real person makes it a lot cool. Very impressive, also impressive it looks bad-ass and not slutty (like some versions turn out to be).

As ridiculous as the belly window design is I've loved most of the comic runs that she wears it in, so I have a soft spot for it. After wearing the costume with the belly window I have finally discovered its purpose, ventilation!

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

TravisTruant In reply to gillykins [2011-09-16 00:15:27 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I guess I can see that. It was really thanks to Hush and this outfit that she became such a major player in the comics. And that is awesome about the ventilation!
