Description Here is ’s long overdue request. He asked me for something involving my cloth girl from the previous request ([link] ), except this time he wanted her to have pantyhose instead of striped stockings. I hope he likes it.

And… (drumroll please):

RANDOM PHILOSOPHICAL DISCUSSION TIME!

The question came to me while drawing this, and I can’t help wondering: if everyone were made of cloth and could stuff their bodies however they wanted to, would we stop judging each other based on size and shape? After all, bodies could be adjusted to individual tastes and easily changed with a quick re-stuffing. There would not even be any health implications associated with extreme gauntness or obesity. (Health-related issues are the only problem I have with either extreme. I have absolutely no problem with the aesthetics of any body shape; variety is the spice of life, after all.) Would we accept one another as who we were, knowing that appearance was merely an expression of personal taste?

Or would we find something else to complain about? Would we nitpick on the quality of the materials, having “brand name” stuffings and fabrics that only those who were “cool” could use? Would we make fun of how well or how evenly others stuffed themselves? Or would we critique the very motivations that might make a person stuff themselves one way as opposed to another?

I would be interested in hearing people’s thoughts on the matter. I only ask that you please keep your comments tasteful and respectful. Thank you!

We might still find something to complain about. some PEOPLE MIGHT GET LAUGHED AT by other, by how well or badly they stuff themselves. Over time you might get worn out and need new material, so yeah the type of material you choose to stitch yourself with could be un fairly judged. Some people could think their material or stuffing is better than yours. In a perfect world they wouldn't but just because your a doll, doesn't make your world perfect. Infact you would have to worry about replaceing parts, and that might cost money or whatever is used as money and I'm guessing whatever Doll use as money would have to be rare and not something they could just sow up.

Anyways I love this picture it's cute

Thank you for the compliment on the picture

Thank you also for taking time to comment. I have to say I agree with what you think. As long as the world is imperfect, there will always be people who find a way to build themselves up by tearing others down. It's a shame, but that's how it is... But that is why those of us who care must make sure we do not put others down based on appearances

Nice job with the shading! And unfortunately I am too lazy to join the conversation, since I'm trying to empty my inbox! Sorry!

Thank you! I discovered a new tool in PS Elements that helped a lot with figuring out the lighting. And that's okay - I understand. I have a backload of messages to respond to as well.

To be honest, this picture is unsettling.

Nonetheless, excesive stuffing would lead to decreased mobility and stitches or fabric ripping apart. Understuffing would also have its set of adverse effects. Then there is the probem of price: Parents would need to stuff their children so that they would expand properly. Kind of like a stocking, actually. Question is, however, if the stuffing would require frequent replacement. That would bring another dimension to the problematic, especially in conjuction with your suggestion of brand name stuffings.

But in the end, it is not weight but shape that matters, at least aestheticaly speaking. Imagine someone would put all their stuffing in their head and then just rol around with the rest of their body flailing behind.

I hadn't thought about that. I guess in my mind, once the fabric became attached to the main body, it became somehow an "organic" fabric, capable of adjusting itself to the needs of the body.

I also hadn't thought about the aspect of distribution. The image of a body rolling over itself on a too-large head is amusing, and would probably become the next "fad"

Thank you so much! My inner self-critic sees so much wrong with it, but it was a good learning experience, and it seems to have been well received. So I'm pretty happy with it overall

Isn't she! She is wonderful, maybe you can help me flesh out a name for her and we can name her. If things go well, she can be babysitting some cute stocking girls to like braid their hair or play keep away with their stocking heads.

I like the concept of your drawing here, and as always, very pretty design!

I'm more jaded regarding your musings. I'd like to think that, with infinite customizable bodies, humanity would stop bickering, but I really don't think so. Whatever new stuffing became in fashion, the outer quality of your body, color... not to mention language and other, real life issues.

I think it's because of our clannish nature, we feel comfortable around "our" group, and are suspicious of whatever our surroundings are. Traveling beyond that boundary, and become the "outsider" every so often will usually give you new perspectives and broaden your mind.

There's my 2 cents.

I agree (and it seems to be the general consensus) that people would find ways to judge and quarrel no matter what our bodies looked like. Humans seem to have an innate desire to feel superior to others (my Christian background attributes that to our innate sinfulness), and one of the easiest ways to feel good about oneself is to convince oneself that others are inferior. I also agree that trips outside our social "comfort zone" can be very beneficial in exposing us to new ideas and ways of thinking

This picture is really nice! I love the concept.
Also: This may be kind of negative but I think people will continue to judge, and others will continue to try to express themselves while being judged, even when made of cloth. ouo It is best to accept who we are already!

Thank you! I'm afraid I must agree: I think people will always find ways to try to feel superior to each other. And you are quite right - it is best to be content with who we are

Exactly, that is also a good point. Usually we do like to judge but I was raised up not to be like that. I look at people who I view as normal till I truly get to know them!

(Also don't wanna be whiny, but you did say pantyhose. Those are still stockings, pantyhose is the whole lower half or basically panties and stockings combined to make pantyhose. But she is adorable and we need to give her/you a name for it. )

gingersketches In reply to Cloth-King [2012-12-06 02:09:46 +0000 UTC]

(It's a matter of background, I suppose. I was taught full pantyhose, thigh-highs, and knee-highs are all contained in the broad term "pantyhose." So in my mind, the term referred to the material it was made of rather than the structure of the garment. Oh, well. Live and learn.)

It is, and to be honest that is part of my little global evil plan to make everyone of cloth which might result in some difference or change! We all be the same, but always different.

(By the way this is so fantastic. I mean wow. I just have to get you to do more if you like to use her! Infact if you like, she can be your Silksona your Silky avatar. I just love how it turned out!!! I love to have permission and post this up to my gallery and maybe give her a name?)
