Thank you so much! I often have that feeling about my favorite images. What drew me to this photograph was the sweeping curve of the staircase, the evidence of craftsmanship from a bygone era in the bones of the walls, the beautifully subtle texture of layers of paint on plaster, and the way the light hit the door at the top of the stairs, almost like a beacon to ascend.Β

"Bones of the walls" ah-ha, that's it. Have you ever seen the movies, Flowers in the Attic or People Under the Stairs? there's a complex and personally grim reason as to why this resonates with me but the picture is beautiful
