Thanks! Generally I don't like the images of mine that has nothing "happening" in them, but this does make for a nice desktop background.

Yes, this is in MyPaint and GIMP. There is a mini-wip sequence linked from the caption. Glad to hear you like it, they are both very nice programs. Thanks for the fave!

Hi... have suggested this photo for our "Back to nature" contest... So i'm asking do you want to enter our contest or not? If yes, then i will add it to our contest folder.

You can check contest in our group and decide if you want to enter...

It's not a 'photo' ... but sure, why not - sounds like fun!

Beautiful leaf! Very realistic I like it's colors. Very nice. The stones don't make such a good impression. They should be put in the water more randomly, I guess. They look like somebody put them into the water with hands. Their size should be more random, too.

Thanks for the comment! You could be right about the non-randomness of the stones, I'm not sure, have to ponder that a bit.

Absolutely gorgeous. The wet rocks, the slightly murky bottom, and the leaf are all exquisite.

Thought I would post here instead of at GIMPChat. Beautiful work Griatch. You are definitely a master at water and reflection especially considering you do all this from scratch (as opposed to digital camera obscura like a lazy filter man like me uses; lol). Thanks for posting the link and this image of course.

Heh, you know I could never do the kind of stuff you with a "lazy filter", lylejk. Thanks for the comment!

Wow! Incredible! Really, really good depiction of the water, it looks insanely good. The leaf is nice and adds a good focal point, but doesn't live up to the water and stones around it. My only criticism is on what appears to be two droplets of water that are sitting on the leaf; they seem to be a little too outlined in white. Maybe that's not it, but they're looking a bit weird compared to the rest of the painting. But overall, I'm very impressed by this!

Griatch-art In reply to SkarValidus [2011-03-04 20:40:24 +0000 UTC]

You are right that the leaf is not quite as detailed as the water, I sort of liked the effect, but I might go back and adjust things around a bit at some point. The droplets of water also looked fine at the time, but looking at it now with some more distance I can see what you mean. If I go back to tweak the leaf I should do someething about the droplets too. Thanks for the feedback (and encouragement)!

Cool, "serene" was the theme of the challenge, so it's a good sign if that comes across. Thanks for the comment!
