The first 5 samples belong to Blade and Soul concept arts by my favorite artist Hyung Tae Kim.
The 2 material sample are from Zbrush, which I've made by myself [got whole sheet of various materials from it]
the last 3 are random pics from Google ;-; sorry forgot about keeping the source.
Years ago when I started in the art lyceum, we had all this practice to COPY famous artworks. Oh god how I hated it, I was an artist why to copy, I was waaaay better ~
Actually the copy practice gave me the most experience how to move my brush to obtain certain effects.
Photoshop now gives me a lot importunity to copy and study in a fast and nice way. Just load a pic, desaturate it and sample the colors *o*
I sincerely recommend it to everyone o.o to COPY pieces just to teach your eye and hand to the shapes and values.
Just don't forget >.> don't claim it's yours when you copy someones art .

As for copying art(and making sure you give credit to them), it is a very good way to learn indeed~ ^U^

@.@ Yeash, seen his artwork to Magna Carta years ago~ and I sooo wanted painter and wacom tablet to learn cg art like he does.
But then my teachers told me I'm a fool to believe I could earn money with such childish stuff :/ Actually quit drawing manga for 6y to do all the traditional dead art.

At begin I was against it :I For the french copy contest do you want know what I did?
I copied the horse from Lascaux cave.
lol I took a huge wooden board. Used glue, dried grass and lotsa wooden crumbles. Made it into paste and formed on the board a fake stone texture, then glued sand on it and painted the horse with one black stroke.
When principal saw it she was stunned.. XD And I even made a huge research to prove the cave painting is a piece of french art. I still got a bad note >.> They wanted Degas and all other~

wow, so much work... and you still received a bad note? what a pity. but at least you had propper art classes. we coloured letters with watercolours... like every time again and again.

propper I wouldn't say. No anatomy class or any tips how to think as an artist. It was more to paint what we see until the teacher is happy :I I'm used to get commands from my mom, so I scored as one of top students lololol coz I knew what they want.

neither had we. i guess, art was decreased to sth unimportant at school. when our teacher passed away he never was replaced and they canceled art classes.
to be honest my mother is also giving me the best critiquse. xD
