Do you know how much the shipping would be to Canada approximately?

Helewidis In reply to star-rose-three [2009-09-24 20:12:59 +0000 UTC]

hey there! I checked with the post office today and shipping up till half a kilo (it gives from 1 to 6 bracelets) costs almost 9 euros, and it goes registered. then it's 1 more euro for the box.

Thank you for checking... I found out this week that I have more bills to pay then I have money so I'll have to pass for the moment. I thought I was going to have money left over but it doesn't seem like it

you know what? they take too much money out of the artists and don't even policy the transactions, etc. no guarantees whatsoever. they even say: use the site at your own risk.

naa... not for me. I'm good here with dA. I don't even have to pay dA a fee in order to make this I'm making, and they ask a percentage just for listing the items!

How did you crack the paint?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to MysticStargaze [2009-09-15 22:11:31 +0000 UTC]

ahhh... for me to really explain it well I'd have to make a video tutorial which at the moment isn't possible for me. but basically there's a thing called craquelet, which is more elaborate than crackle liquid. I used the 2 steps procedure, applying a thick base at first, letting it dry, and then the craquelet "opener". let dry and voila!

Ah cool! Thanks, I was just curious on the technique. I ddin't know that stuff exsisted.

I'd be very interested in purchasing something like this as I love chunky wooden bangles.

Could you find out how much shipping would be for about 4 of these bad boys please

I wanna get some

Helewidis In reply to ChewedKandi [2009-09-15 22:34:38 +0000 UTC]

sure! I don't have them with me right now, they are at the store in the window-store installment atm (am so proud of that!), but I'll ask my grannie to bring them over this weekend when she comes visit me in coimbra.

Do you want them all this big or do you want the smaller ones... and all black, or...? like I said, you can commission me with your desires

ChewedKandi In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-16 00:26:44 +0000 UTC]

I like the big chunky ones like this one... was kinda hoping for 2 black ones and possibly 2 magenta pink ones if thats ok?

I love bright magenta

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to ChewedKandi [2009-09-16 10:16:19 +0000 UTC]

sure! you want the magenta crackled too or with glitter? I have one with glitter, will submit soon!

ChewedKandi In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-16 19:40:18 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow, I love the magenta glitter one... think it would be 2 magenta glitter, 2 black glitter and by any chance could you do 2 white glitter?

I like to have matching things and I only seem to wear magenta, black, greys, whites.

Could you send me a note with the total costs including postage and packaging please

I love these sorts of bangles <3

Helewidis In reply to ChewedKandi [2009-09-16 19:50:37 +0000 UTC]

LOL

no problem with the glitters, but... you don't want this one with the crackle anymore, then, and prefer 2 with glitters, OR you want glitters besides the crackle (not advised, btw).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChewedKandi In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-16 20:07:10 +0000 UTC]

What looks best? See I like how the glitter looks on the pink ones, but also like the cracked black.

If you've already done the cracked black I'll have those 2 instead of 2 black glitter.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to ChewedKandi [2009-09-16 22:39:55 +0000 UTC]

I prefer the crackled with the black ones and the glitter with the magentas. Not sure about the white with glitter, but will give it a try! xD

as for the black ones, I have this one made, will make another. or, should I make 2 new ones with glitter only? it's really your call, you are the one who is going to wear it

Tbh, I wanna find out how much delivery is gonna be cos that will impact my budget on these. I really wanna get a load of them cos they look so great and if I'm honest, in the UK those things would go for a lot more in fancy shops. I'm a big fan of chunky jewellery and I'm seeing this as a right bargin!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to ChewedKandi [2009-09-17 00:49:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, don't worry. I know it depends also on the shipping and handling costs. I'm just making these questions so I know how many bracelets in plain wood I'll have to ask for, and what materials exactly, because I'm in coimbra till day 25, but grannie will come visit next sunday and she can bring me what I nee by then. Just trying to not delay the whole process..

and you're right, it's a bargain. I could be selling those at 5 euros, which is the price I see around here in shops. but that with the shipping, etc, would make them too expensive for ppl to buy, I think. and I really need to sell. all profits of these go to my uni master's fees xD

Did you craft the bracelet or decorate an existing one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to Veganvictim [2009-09-15 06:57:09 +0000 UTC]

Hi Matt!

I painted it and did the craquelet and patine (you can read that info in my description, I always says everything I did in those).
If I had crafted it I'd have put it into the artisan crafts gallery - which is a very awesome place in dA, btw!

Veganvictim In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-15 07:02:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes i know, =pixie-queen the girl responsible for teaching me my (if I say so myself) awesome style is a master at crafting glass/fusing glass..

I thought so, from the description, and that you're only selling it for 2.50 - I figured if you'd crafted it you'd be selling for a lot more..

Are you capable of crafting such as this? why don't you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to Veganvictim [2009-09-15 07:08:11 +0000 UTC]

I'm studying at uni and my time is ever so limited for me to learn yet another new craft (I started as a writer -portuguese- then came here and passed onto photography, and now I have also done photomanip and painted)! that's why.

but! it's on my to do list! I fell in love with wood this summer, which was when I started to paint it, co-incidentally. Unfortunately, tho, I can't see myself learning how to carve and give shape to a piece of wood in a short term. First, because I have very few time, now that the summer is over, and second, because I don't know no one who does it that might teach me

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Veganvictim In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-15 07:11:37 +0000 UTC]

Surely the best teaching is self teaching - though to have someone skilled enough to show you is also quite important, I find it dictates your style, which can be for the better or worse.

You have all the time in the world to learn how to craft from wood if you wish, though from your repertoire it sounds like you have a very full (non-wood) plate as it is

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Helewidis In reply to Veganvictim [2009-09-15 07:16:23 +0000 UTC]

True. But at least to know how to use the media I'd need someone. There's limits to tutorials. But after that, to learn by trial and error has been my modus operandi since I was a kid - for better or for worse...

oh, and I love to have my plate full. I'm always with something new, juggling with the old. atm, for example, is painting wood and decorating glass; next will be to learn CSS, then I'll concentrate on uni, and after that it'll be summer again and it's a whole month for me to try another thing!

If it was otherwise I'd be bored

Veganvictim In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-15 07:20:40 +0000 UTC]

Ack, CSS, I tend to learn things just as new things are coming out, I was learning Basic during HTMLs hayday, then HTML during CSS' hayday, next I'll learn CSS when it's being phazed out for something new I like to be 4 years behind everything haha

Helewidis In reply to Veganvictim [2009-09-15 07:23:31 +0000 UTC]

I've been procrastinating on the css. I have to confess it scared the hell of me the first time I looked into it! But now it doesn't seem so bad... and there's a lot of help at hand around here, both in dA and IRL. I also have flash in my list. Already found a mentor IRL!

Veganvictim In reply to Helewidis [2009-09-15 07:33:00 +0000 UTC]

Gah, flash too, and Javascript - if I had all the time in the world, and a memroy that would retain more than 12 things at any time, I'd love to master them both. My work comes first however, vicious wife that she is!

Ah but then you become reliant on technology to remind you - I guess this is how the future is being shaped, we're being filled with a lot of information..

I remember before mobile phones and laptops (yes I'm that old) I used to be able to remember all my frinds telephone numbers, birthdays etc
