A few people wanted more Arthur doodles, so I thought: why the hell not.This is Arthur's class (unless there's some nameless student who floats around in the background that I totally overlooked) Fun fun!
The title is from this totally whacky music vid someone made and stuck up on youtube. [link] it's pretty much awesome. I stumbled over it while I was searching for the episode with the love ducks (which I could not find >_< ) but I consider this just as good.

Arthur is like.... the best under-appreciated cartoon show ever. But honestly, I'm glad the internet hasn't gotten ahold of it because if Arthur had the equivalent of bronies I would barf all over.

Too wonderful. It always kinda upset me that Arthur never really looked like an aardvark. Even in the early books he just looked like a plain 'ole anteater.
Good work, this makes me really happy.
(By the way, Brain's the bear, right? I was never too sure about him, personally I always thought he was some sort of guinea pig.)

Funny that you made Jenna look boyish. Guess I'm not the only one who suspected that she may actually be a male in drag. But I doubt the powers-that-be in charge of the show would confirm that.

I never realized how small their class was until now! Well, at least they've a more realistic class size (and structure) than the Magic School Bus ever did (what did they have...like 6 or 5 kids?)
I also love Arthur because, by having these generic beasties instead of ethnicities, the writers avoid token minorities. So if they want to introduce someone with a foreign background (say someone from China), they can focus entirely on what makes their culture unique rather than sticking a bunch of stereotypical imagery or design on them. Sue Ellen was kinda great for that reason, since her family traveled so many places, they could talk a lot about other nations without creating a whole new character.

I love that about Arthur, too. As much as I am a fan of tackling racial injustice (and other social injustices), I think Arthur did well by side-stepping the whole issue. And not by merely igoring the problem, but 'fixing' it in a sense that it just doesn't exist. In the Arthur universe, the issue of race is a solved problem.
In a similar way, they destroy various stereotypes by never presenting them in the first place, or foiling them with a further fleshing out of character. Francine does well with sports, but nobody goes out of their way to say: Hey a GIRL is great at sports; that's wierd! She just does it, and it's not unusual. The Brain is a super smart guy, but is also a great soccer player. Not your typical nerd. Binky is the school bully, but also plays the clarinet and loves butterflies. They are all very multi-dimensional, believeable people.
The kind of odd one out is Muffy, who is somewhat stereotypical. But at least she hangs out with Arthur and Francine and all the normies, so she's not a total snob XD

Muffy has a kind of naiviety along with her snobbishness, in fact I think it's her naiviety that makes her a snob. She doesn't realize the way she acts might put off her friends and she doesn't understand why nobody else can afford the things she can. As a result, while well liked and certainly no outcast, Muffy isn't the most popular girl in school, particularly since she's shown no aptitude towards sports and that seems to be the defining factor in popularity in the Arthur universe. Thus, perhaps Francine (the poorest member of the Arthur cast) is more highly regarded than Muffy. But Muffy, though she might brag about her things, doesn't think poorer people are beneath her; Francine is her best friend! And her parents are well-fleshed out too, enjoying their rich lifestyle but haven't let that fact corrupt their thinking. True, her dad's main concern might be the bottom line, but he never puts money before his family.
Contrast this to most other kid's shows where the richest person is the most popular, best liked, and has no scruples whatsoever. Muffy might be a snob, but she loves sharing the things she has. Your typical rich girl in other shows dangles their possessions in front of other people's noses and then laughs in their face. I've always hated that stereotype; my family (though not initially wealthy, and certainly not able to afford a mansion or something ridiculuous like that even today) worked very hard for the money they earned and thus can provide me with a comfortable lifestyle. Being "rich" never made me popular, I was always the odd one out at school (then again, I never flaunted it, that being very against my personality). My parents were very careful to impress on me the importance of earning your way through life and treating everyone with respect. It's given me some perspective though; money most certainly does NOT buy happiness. I'd rather be poor and loving life than insanely rich and emotionally empty. The happiness from money comes by sharing it with others (giving gifts, providing for your children, making sure your parents aren't sent to a low-quality nursing home if at all) and not from hoarding it.
I think Muffy reflects that when she shows some clarity, especially in how she interacts with Francine.
