Thank you so much my friend, this means a lot for me. I was so happy to see this nice piece of art with my lovely breton on it and you did a great job on him and his spells here.
I've waited years for the necro class and I always believed they would give us one in ESO. So I'm excited now because I finally get what suits best for me. The only thing I don't like, is the fact that I can't change Gwen from his Sorc class to a Necro. (I'm not sure if I'll do it anyway, bec he's not to bad as a sorc).
I'll make his mentor Tanguy instead, but that's not the same for me. I'm playing Gwen for over ten years now since the first days of Oblivion, so he's a part of me and my thinking (and ESO is the only game where I couldn't play him like he should be ).
I also hope they willl give us a nice weapon set, because I want a necro staff with green fire on it
Why necromancers? Because their magic and their role are the most interesting parts in the lore. Not just in ESO but through the ages of Tamriel history. Of course they work together with one or two daedric lords and I like daedra stuff. I also like the idea of summoning/ manipulating spirits and souls and studying forbidden knowledge. Usually you won't truly resurrect a person here. They use minor daedric spirits for reanimating corpses not the souls of their former inhabitants. I also don't mind dead things or corpses at all. And I think there are spells for it. No one would run around stinking like hell.
To be honest, Gwen wouldn't be the only one who would go beyond theory (sry ). At least, we would both have a nice place to stay in Coldharbour.
Gwen is loyal to his master but he never was and never will be a traitor and he isn't a bad person at all. He left the mages guild by his own choice because he realized they can't give him what he sought after, especially after he found out he was a descendant of a line of powerful necromancers. He didn't betray them. He had to go because it was the best for both sides. And he never had a problem with Vanus or guild rules.
He joined the Cult afterwards to learn more because his father has been a high rank there (who sold his own soul in exchange for power to Molag Bal) and that's why he came in contact with all the other stuff.

Too bad you can't even choose an element. Would be really nice, if there was a chance to specialize on fire, or ice, or shock magic. But I don't want to complain. I really love the game and the lore
Yeah, I know you wanna go to Sovngarde with your Nord friends and drink beer and mead on Shor's side ^^ Whereas Gwen has a good chance to end like his father
I think it would be stupid for beginners to mess around with the souls of the former owners besides putting them in to soul gems. I guess there was a lorebook somewhere or a note, where it was written that only more skilled necromancers are able to control and manipulate a mortal's soul to do their own will and it's more dangerous of course because you have to bind and force them into your service. Not everyone has the willpower and the general skill for that. And of course you will find a lot of people here who enjoy their power over others.
Concerning me, I respect Vanus and his work and I don't have a problem with guild members at all. Counts also for Gwen. And I don't care about new fashions on the market. I would have chosen it right from the beginning and not because its mainstream.

Thank you very much! Also for the faves! That is much appreciated!
I think necromancy is definitely an interesting topic, both ingame and in real .
And yeah, that job definitely dulls off in many ways (not just smell, but seeing dead and decayed things). My friend worked in forensics/pathology for a bit and belive me, the smell was noticable for weeks, despite bathing and all the chemicals we have to get rid of it .
But -I believe that is a quest in a delve in the Rift- there is some note in ESO where a necromancer states he is carrying his dead wife around with him and he uses magic against the smells... so that might be an option . Still, besides the smell, I would not feel comfortable with all the bacteria that is connected to that. And they don't have surgical gloves in Tamriel. That's definitely not hygenic .
It is definitely controversal to introduce that class. I mean, there ARE necromancers in the game and this way you do have the chance to be on the "bad" side in some way. Also, not every culture and group specifically bans all types of necromancy. But still, it won't make sence that we will now see masses of necros running around in the game .
I even find the macabre part of it funny, e.g. mass-ressurection of team members (believe me, I would have needed that in a trial yesterday !). But from the view of my characters and myself I would not go beyond theory if I was part of that world .

Yep, as a student I attended to anatomy classes where we studied anatomy by dissecting corpses (embalmed ones, so there wasn't similar smells as in pathology/forensic medicine autopsies ofc), and we indeed go used to seeing death during that time! Even though I never had much appetite after that (lunch break) but ate anyway at the uni's restaurant before going to the lectures in the afternoon I'm interested in forensics but wouldn't like to deal with all the tissues containing bacteria (despite having PPE) And speaking of ESO, I always think about how they just loot bloody corpses and rotten corpses and such and uhh.. the smell in the looted gear but they don't seem to be very concerned about the exposure to the human blood (biological hazard) either! Maybe there are no hepatitis viruses or HIV and such in Tamriel, though...
I, in fact, could understand the necromancer class otherwise but *SPOILERS* what about Meridia's hatred towards the undead and such that is against the life itself? I mean, I could understand that for instance, some ex-worm cultists, who have eg. disappointed mannimarco and been punished by him, or otherwise hold grudges against him, could become "vestiges" and see Mannimarco as their enemies and return to the "good side" - but Meridia's role in the main quest would indeed be a problem (or i wonder if she comments anything during the questline, if the Vestige is necromancer class)
is there an option to mass-resurrect your team members for the necromancer class in ESO? if there is, that sounds very cool! And useful like you said By the way, speaking of mass resurrection, one of my OCs does that in my fan fiction story that I wrote before the necro class was released haha If there really is such thing now, I again predicted what they're going to add to the classes before there even were news about a new class coming

Zoology was my minor subject at university, so I just cut up animals. And there the smell was already unpleasant! Starting with formaldehyde over the bare smell of the dead animal itself. Funny thing though, most students got over the smells and looks quickly and ate in the same room. After dissecting a calamari I even took the rest home and cooked it .
In Tamriel you have alchemy and resturation magic to compensate for hepatitis and such things perhaps?
I know what you mean. But perhaps Meridia did not know everything, inclunding the "methods" of the hero. Or she was to weak/had no other option. She is not perfect after all. During the Sumemrset quest her powers are greatly reduced. But yeah, I would not think, her first option would be asking a necromancer for support. Any explanation taken into account sounds dull.
Yes, you can res 3 people at once with the ultimate of the "healing"-skill line. But now imagine all the necros runnign around in Cyrodiil during a great pvp battle = the game is not just going to crash, but the entire console/pc will explode while trying to deal with the graphics .
My friend was doing that as well, though she has not written down much, she has a concept of her character in her head, including all the necro-magical details. My characters on the other hand fight hers .
