A truly wonderful drawing; perhaps it's just me, but he appears to be rather smug in this picture (which I think would perfectly suit Ancalagon, being what he is.)

Boy, for a relatively straight-forward pen-n-ink drawing, you've REALLY captured some life in this piece! Awesome work... how come my pens never manage to produce anything like this? - lol! Usually I'd want to see something like this taken to the clored/rendered stage next, but I think it might actually lose something if it was... MAKE MORE! - haha!

Why, thank you. Sometimes the 'doodles' turn out the best because you're lest restricted and the hand subconsciously moves more freely.

Black ink/pen drawings are great... they convey so much and yet appear simple to do -- until you try. Nicely done.

I love ink drawings too, they leave a sharper and more energetic feel to a picture, I think. Thanks!

katapraktoi [2007-06-28 21:56:55 +0000 UTC]

I like the fact that its made entirely in simple lines, did you use a pen or a nib to make it?

I don't know what a nib is but I used a black pen. Thanks!

Aahh! Now I see. I didn't know the proper english for it. Here we just call them split pens. Yes, I use them a lot, f.eks here [link] on her armour. (nevermind her face, which is crap) But on Ancalagon I used a black drawing pen. Almost the same effect, without all the dipping.

Smauggie! *squish* I loved how they illustrated him in the cartoon of The Hobbit. The furry dragon that he was was sorta...different than the scaley ones we see most often. Still, Smaug is probably the reason I got into dragons in the first place. XD I loved him soooooo much. This is a beautiful drawing. *nod nod* +Fav from me.
