Description Suggested - or requested? - by *rachaelm5, I present: Yog-Sothoth....

Imagination called up the shocking form of fabulous Yog-Sothoth — only a congeries of iridescent globes, yet stupendous in its malign suggestiveness. ~H. P. Lovecraft, "The Horror in the Museum"

It was an All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self — not merely a thing of one Space-Time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence's whole unbounded sweep — the last, utter sweep which has no confines and which outreaches fancy and mathematics alike. It was perhaps that which certain secret cults of earth have whispered of as YOG-SOTHOTH, and which has been a deity under other names; that which the crustaceans of Yuggoth worship as the Beyond-One, and which the vaporous brains of the spiral nebulae know by an untranslatable Sign... ~H.P. Lovecraft and E. Hoffman Price, "Through the Gates of the Silver Key"

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread. ~H. P. Lovecraft, "The Dunwich Horror"

The last paragraph is from an extensive quotation in the Necronomicon, as Wilbur Whatley, the son of Yog-Sothoth, read the volume in search of the Long Chant. Once the Librarian guessed Wilbur's intention, he blocked further access to that book (Wilbur's own copy had pages missing).

This is SO excellent on so many levels. I mean look at that! If I ever could envisage Yog Sothoth and the horror of it...this is what would be coming to get me, in my nightmares, in the very deep darkness of the night.

I love this rendition of Yog-sothoth, for one it's accurate to the original description of it.
Secondly it really does have a "Malign Suggestiveness".
Easily the best art I've seen of him, amazing work.

The 'suggestiveness' part made me giggle. Anyways, this is...whoa.

You did a very good job of rendering something the human mind can't comprehend without losing 2d6 sanity points. You are the best I've seen at depicting Lovecraft's more nebulous horrors.

Unfortunately, now I have to make a minor nitpick about the text - the "long s" is not used at the end of words [link] .

It really is a treat for us all if you do more art of these Lovecraftian fellows. While looking at this one I felt the same fascinated fear as reading Lovecraft's stories, and that's something what rarely happens with anything else. Truly marvellous

Profoundly creepy, but beautiful in a Lovecraftian way. It's been a while, but it's nice to come back and see Yog-Sothoth peering back while going through the devwatch list. Will you be depicting more of Lovecraft's pantheon in the future?

I am both flattered and impressed. You captured the Mighty Soap Suds of Doom in all its malignent magnificence. Thank you very much for posting this guy - I know that I shall sleep the more profoundly tonight for having glimpsed the Gate.

No, really - this is cool. The iridescent effect and all of those faded eyeballs are simply a fantastic device.

I am at a loss for words for fear they may not do this piece justice, wonderful atmosphere you have captured here with the lighting, faded pentagram, that beautiful staring eye with its juicy, glistening iris...I must +fav, incredible work.

Truly a marvellous depiction of Yog-Sothoth!
