Description 365 Days of Speedpainting
RULES - Make a speed painting every day - It shouldn't take longer than an hour

DAY 6

Came down with a nasty bit of cold, so I didn't feel like drawing anything for the past few days. But finally, things are starting to get back to normal, and so I felt like doing some speed painting practise again. I really shouldn't shy away from using darker colors for contrast - the grass looks way too bright and unicolor on this screen. :/

But that's what practise is for, right? I do like the sky, though!

Yes the grass could do with some more darker shades in the shadows but I like the composition of this and the feel of it. It smells of summer, freedom and future.

The sky looks absolutely beautiful!

As far as shadows and lighting--that was one of my hardest areas to tackle. Nothing beats practice with lighting like references do, and it really helped to improve my paintings, the more I studied it. ^^

Thanks - that's actually very encouraging, considering the cool stuff you paint!

But yes, only practise can help one improve. I certainly hope that once I reach speed painting 30 or 40, I can see some progression already!

I'm sure you will! And I look forward to seeing your progress, because it's so cool to visually see improvements to ones work!

I don't know if you have this book already, but this is one of the best reference sources I have ever come across for lighting and realism:

Ah, yes - it is indeed!

I have it here in my library, too, and found it so immensely useful and helpful. Thanks a lot for the link, I very much appreciate the thought!
