Saw "Brave" Last night, and it was just what I needed; I went into the film no expectations and it was awesome, and resonated with me on so many levels it's untrue. Nice to see a some strong female characters (Merida AND Mum!) not obviously written with a "guys' view of how women should be", and their relationship together was really well handled... I have to get this on DVD and show my mum!
Some of the messages about fate and following your heart and all, however cheesy in places, where just what I needed to hear. All in all and It was just the kick to the inspiration gland that I needed and I felt so juiced-up coming out of the film that I started this while waiting for the train back... continued on the train and finished off at home, taking about an hour in total. It might be only quick and loose but it's an important piece to me. I've been feeling hugely bolstered and supported by all your love, comments, and gift art etc lately.. I can't thank you enough
I've been going through a real tricky phase that has lead me thinking/feeling some horrible things, but every single one of your messages of support has really helped and encouraged me... I know I'm not out of the woods yet but you guys are my will-o-wisps, helping me to stay on the right track.

Beautiful interpretation of the film! The only thing I'd say is careful with the way the dress is flicking it... it's a little like a tail as it seems a little skinny and elongated... but that's just me being nit picky

I've been seeing the TV adverts for Brave but I have to confess it's not really my thing - I just can't get into fantasy / magical movies

I have mixed thoughts about this film, but on the most part I enjoyed it (mainly because of Merida's relationship with her mother as you mentioned.) The scene that you've depicted here is actually one of my favorites because I felt like was Merida climbing that cliff and taking in the stunning view; this piece gives me the same blissful and uplifting feeling too.

What did you not enjoy about the film, out of interest?
I wouldn't say everything's rosey just yet... I've still got a lot of worries, but I'm tying to attract the right things into my life, and worrying about the negatives isn't the right way to dot that! `:]

As for my opinion on the film, I actually wrote a bit of a review on facebook so I'll just copy-paste that here, ha ha...
While the movie was a visual treat (well, you come to expect that from Disney and Pixar,) I thought the story was too predictable since I had correctly pieced together most of the plot and had figured out what the "surprise twists" would be
long before they happened. Also, the entire bear theme reminded me of a rehashed Brother Bear... but in Scotland!
Though I enjoyed the various character designs and personality quirks of the three lords and their sons, I get the argument that they were mostly one-dimensional and played for laughs. The only male character who came the closest to being rounded was Merida's father; I quite liked how easily he could go from a big, lovable, guffawing man to a fearsome warrior and leader the moment his family's safety is compromised. I was highly disappointed by Merida's three brothers who do not speak throughout the entire film but definitely looked old enough to. It seems that their dual purpose in the film is to look cute/mischievous (again for laughs) and then to come to Merida's aid for the plot's convenience.
The movie's redeeming feature is the relationship between Merida and her mother Elinor; I was genuinely invested in their scenes together and thought their parts were well-written. Largely, I wish the movie had been made on a far grander scale; with all best scenes used for their trailers, my expectations for this film were a little high and the movie fell a bit short of them...
Despite all it's faults, I wouldn't call it a bad movie; it defnitely wasn't one of Pixar's best, but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself watching it.

speed paint....I hate talented folk :-D hehe. This is beautiful. Its amazing where we get that spark sometimes, it can come from anywhere. Like I said, giving mlp a go got me back into art and Im thankful to lauren and the crew/cast for that.

Yeah, the sparks comes from crazy places sometimes! .. I often get inspired by really random things, like wood grain in doors or a damp patch on a wall! lol
Yeah MLP has bought inspiration and joy to many many folk I think, it's a beautiful thing

The way (most of) the bronydom handle haters is very much how the hippys in the 60s did, hug them and stay calm. Really pisses people off :-D
I try to help people when I can, if they have a tiny spark it is so easy to either squash out that spark or pour petrol on it.
