So here I am again, and with my half of a trade with *lenoki if she's around out there! :waves:I am trying to catch up on all the things I have to do for people before I go back to school (oh, please people, do rub it in some more that summer is almost over
) so I finally colored up the lineart I did and finished it off. This is Lenoki's character Ilue, a young elven who's got a particularly wild side to her. Someone with a child inside a grown up body, happy to take risks in the name of adventure, someone who is still free from the bounds that society sets her. This really appealed to me as sometimes it would be awfully nice to act as if no other human was alive on earth, and to enjoy the wonders of the world in a child-like way. Supposedly I should can these thoughts up. Oh well. I wanted to go for a kind of breathless epic fantasy feeling. Perhaps I succeeded, perhaps you'll only be reminded of Pocahontas
Mixed media because this is ink, markers, gouache touch-ups with a photoshop background. The figure took the longest, thus why I decided it fit better in traditional.

Hey .... do those rocks behind her intentionally have faces? An elven female face and a gruff man's face?
And i forgot to mention how much i appreciate the sentiment of enjoying life in a child-like way. I've always said, if you can't enjoy something with child-like wonder, then why enjoy it at all?

wow usually mixing cg with traditional media turns out horribly but yours looks gorgoues *_* that's such an awesome background, and i love the flow to her hair. :3 only very vaguely pochantas ish and das only cuase you mentioned it. Very nice lighting on her body<3

Very interesting pose. I don't think I have ever seen such a pose! You work the different mediums so well together. The highlights are my favorite part of this. I think you could do illustrations right now at this point in your career. You are very good and unique.

Good luck with it. A guy that I talk to on another message board told me last year about a site that accepts unsolicited childrens art. He did say that they were in Australia. Would you like me to reask him about the place and pass the info on to you? I don't know anything about the company such as how legit they are, pay, etc but this man has illustrated some childrens books. Maybe they have a website to check out, I dunno. YOu want me to find out?

I emailed the man who gave me the information awhile back and he just got back to me. He lives in Alabama and is currently working with his wife and is helping with the hurricane relief effort. He emailed me back on a borrowed laptop. He said that the information is stored at home in his computer and when he gets back home he will let me know. I don't really know when that will be. He said that the company is located in Aulstralia.

I'm amazed at how you can handle anatomy, the muscles, proportions and volume, supported by colouring. It'd be so attractive to just forget about the world and do what you say, to go for an adventure with fantasy filling our eyes and heads like a child would.
Sadly, people would just stare at you like you were an alien and toss a 'grow up' at you. Those are the people who had forgotten what's fantasy like, and can't see what only the mind can.
I remember in school I was looking at these children playing. One said he had a potion or something in his hand and waved it all over the courtyard, but there was no bottle. And funny, the rest of the kids did see the bottle. Some chased him and tried to take the 'bottle' away and they kept like that untill break was over.
Of someone older than fifteen can still do that, to play and imagine with a kinda childish innocense, at least for some minutes, then I bow at him/her, because they'll remain young forever.

That reminds me of The Little Prince, when he met the bussiness man, always saying "I'm a busy man, I'm a busy man, I've got no time to see the stars". They think adult aren't supposed to dream, with all the responsibilities they have. THat's not being an adult, that's being a mushroom. I'm 22, and hell if I'm surrending my dreams to society just because they say it's childish. I might as well be a living dead if I did.

Omg.. this picture is outstanding. ::gasp:: I am in love with the colors of this and the superb background. The waterfall is beautiful. It kind of keeps the background flowing, with its pale earth toney colors, while the character stands out vividly with her colors. Yet somehow you managed to tie everything in and it is beautiful. ::squees:: Great job kitteh!
