I think it would be really romantic if it was her fallen lover. Maybe she is battling the ones that killed him and now asks her love to help her avenge his death, and survive throught the battle so that she can live for the both of them, maybe even so she can go home to their child....and I'm reading way to much into this.
Anyway, I imagine Lugh as an almost middle aged man with a short beard.

I agree, the pose is very intimate. It is a great concept that the male may not be real. If you ever colored it, you could make the male (if he is not real) kind of hazy and glowy, but still tangible and it would give the impression that he is a figment of her imagination...or a god...or the spirit of her lover helping her into battle.
