Go Bou! I love you so much, she's a tough lady and showed those Romans how a lady does it! So does Zenobia. Amazing, I was wondering if she was a Celtic or if she came later on.

I think the nose may be too low or too wide, which is probably why some people are saying she looks "Manly".... but, still - warrior queen! She looks very powerful and commanding.
And a random question- are Boudica and Boadicea the same person? I've heard both names, so I was wondering...

Yeah noses, man...I like distinct noses, not wee ones, so I always overdraw them a bit...heh..
As for the names, Boudica is (apparently) the Brythonic (Celtic) name. Boadicea was a Latinized version based off a scribe's spelling error. Some people also call her Boudicca.

Beautiful drawing! I, too, think she looks perfectly female. She was a warrior-queen, afterall, and looks the part in this masterful work.

(blinks) I think she looks female. Women don't always have to flash their boobs to let people know they're women. Maybe it's just that I've watched you for awhile and I see what differences you do use between males and females that it's easier for me to see that this is female...(shrugs) I don't know, but I wouldn't assume this was a man. I think she beautiful honestly ^^ I love the fur and belt.

thanks for the comment. i agree, the face is not very feminine, but i do tend to draw boudica in a slightly androgynous manner (i for some reason always imagine her looking like tilda swinton). that said, she is supposed to have a *little* femininity...i will work on getting that across in my next picture of her.

I know that Boudicca was a very large woman, or at least, it is easy to assume so, but I am afraid that picture doesn't really seem to convey feminity, in any degree.
It might be the very rigid cheekbones, but otherwise, it's a really wonderful piece. The celtic-inspired face paint seems dead on from what I've seen, and the dress itself is very gorgeous.

i think part of the problem is also that i draw men and women very similarly...

Boudica was just a little bit manly, riding into battle and all that, so don't worry about making her look femminine, it's more realistic anyways as there are manly women and girly men in real life.
