Description
'Uriel's form had become impossibly complex, its anatomy transforming at the speed of its thought; part engine, part citadel; all meticulous fire.'
'It had needed the Old Science to seduce it into confessing its profoundest desire: simply to see its own true face, and seeing it know how it had been before loneliness had corrupted it.'
Clive Barker - Weaveworld
The Scourge, the "angel" Uriel from 'Weaveworld' Part fire, part machine - all eyes.

There is a chaotic nature about this that I like. I makes me feel uncomfortable because of the multitude of possibilities that is conveys, and that is a good thing as the entity portrayed is in constant flux. A very nice piece indeed.

Uriel the archangel is not a scourge. he is the archangel of earth and a general in the angelic army. best friend of the archangel michael. not. a. scourge.

yes, very true... but, The Scourge in the book 'Weaveworld' is, or at least thinks it is, the archangel Uriel (God's Fire).
Of course, this was explained in the artist's comments...

interesting. I must say, I've never read it.
And the "fire" angel is Michael. Uriel's earth.

Uriel's connection to the four basic elements, from just my hbasic readings, varies from judeo beliefs through to christian beliefs to muslim beliefs. Uriel has been associated with fire, though, also. The name Uriel itself means 'Flame of God':
The boy's name Uriel \u-
"Uriel\ is pronounced OOR-ee-el. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "angel of light; flame of God". In the Apocrypha, Uriel is one of seven archangels. In Muslim tradition, he is known as Israfil and is the angel of music who will sound the trumpet on Judgment Day."

Through my readings, Uriel has been associated with many different, even contradictory, placements in the hierarchy of the Archangels. His inclusion into that particular order of Angel is sometimes questioned for some reason.
After reading weaveworld it piqued my interest in what exactly are the Archangels. I still have much more to learn.
On a seperate note, I also did a depiction of Michael casting down Satan that I wouldn't mind you looking at [link]
