The next part of my series of video game ladies who were my favorites from when I was little until now.

Freya from Final Fantasy IX

Freya is the reason I started this series in the first place. I want to fill this spot with heart emotes and proposals for the rat lady, but Freya deserves at least the same amount of paragraph-y love the others got.

I fucking love Freya. Her character just made me ache all over the place. She's looking for her lost love when you meet her, and when that search ends in sadness, she gives herself some time to mourn, but since there are bigger things at hand, she picks herself up and just continues to kick ass. She has such strong senses of devotion and loyalty to her position as a knight, to her friends, to her people, to her own personal honor... She's kind of amazing.

Something about her capably doing both a very traditional priestess-y dance in Cleyra and destroying the shit out of things with her spear just makes me adore her. Her teaming up with Beatrix - not because she forgives Beatrix, but because she recognizes and respects Beatrix's power and ability to make things right - is seriously one of my favorite things in this entire game. I can't explain how happy it made me to have these two women being both actual PEOPLE and being the main line of defense, because they were that fucking good. (This may make a future installment of this series obvious~)

And honestly? Look at her. She's actually plausibly dressed for someone doing what she's doing. No boob-shaped armor, no exposed skin useful for stabbing her organs... Maybe it was because she was a rat lady and not a human girl, but I love this about her.

..fuck, I love everything about her.

She's also left-handed! <3
