Alef, from the Sega Genesis/Megadrive game 'Shining Force'.These games (Shining Force and Shining Force II) were a gigantic part of my life, and just recently I've been able to play sequels I didn't know existed. I think I really owe it to these games that I ended up creating worlds and stories of my own. Something about them just lit up my brain when I was little.
I was always very fond of Alef's design. The background was meant to be like her bolt spell, but ended up looking a bit more like water. Hopefully it's still interesting to look at!

Ah, my favorite looking mage from Shining Force, though I've never used her in my party since she arrives so late in the game. I'm thinking of giving her a spin on my next playthrough.

You're in for a treat. Alef is THE most powerful mage in the game. If you manage to level her up fully, she gains access to ALL FOUR LEVELS of Bolt and even the first 2 levels of Blaze and Freeze. Oh, and she also gets Desoul. Yeah, she kicks all sorts of ass.

She's near the very end. She only shows up before the very last two or three battles, so yeah, if you never got near the end, you probably haven't met her!
