Description
Another photo that I took while I was visiting APG. This heavy tank destroyer was built and used by the German army in late 1944 during the closing months of the second world war. The jagdtiger's armor was 250 mm thick, and its 128 mm main gun was capable of destroying any Allied tank with a single shot. Due to Germany's severe shortage of resources at that point in the war, only 88 of these vehicles were ever built. By the end of the war, only 3 survived. This one was captured near Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany in March 1945. If you look closely at the gun mantlet, there is still some visible combat damage.
