Your thumbs for the art are broken. The code should be --->
Strangely when I copy/pasted yours into this comment, it worked. Very weird!
Your code's result looks like this:
ANYWAY, amazing paintings! Do you use a grid or just eyeball it and slowly match the colors?π: 0 β©: 1

Oh, thanks, I did not know there is a problem for some users, it appeared fine to me. I just changed it for a link to a photo instead. Thanks for help!

You're welcome. I'm still curious though: Do you use a grid or just eyeball it and slowly match the colors? Your works have such precision compared to the originals. I use a grid sometimes myself, so I had to ask.

I never tried to use a grid... Maybe I should try. I just do my best to draw the contours with a pencil, then I see whether it looks right or wrong. I correct it and do the first sketch with paints. Plus, I use acrylics, so I can always correct my mistakes if something goes wrong later on.Β
Also, to be honest, I try to chose photo references that are relatively easy to copy with paints. I am a beginner, so I have to start on easy ones. Thus, high contrast, very detailed and high resolution photos only are used in my case.Β

Your finished results are advanced, so I'd really try improvising on less-ideal references. You capture all that detail, and without a grid, it looks spot-on at first looks. It can feel very rewarding to take a blurry image/lighting or angle you want to change, look up some other references for detail needs, and just run with it. It makes the painting feel more like your own creation too.
As for my gridding, if you don't use it, don't bother. In your case, you don't need it. It can become a crutch.
