'In Erl that had sighed for magic there was indeed magic now. The pigeon-loft and old lumber-lofts over stables were all full of trolls, the ways were full of their antics, and lights bobbed up and down the street at night long after traffic was home. For the will-o'-the-wisps would go dancing along the gutters, and had made their homes round the soft edges of duck-ponds and in green-black patches of moss that grew upon oldest thatch. And nothing seemed the same in the old village. A fear settled upon Erl'The King of Elfland's Daughter: Lord Dunsany
another illustration from that fantastic book. I simply loved doing that castle, even if it is a bit tall

that looks so cool!! i really must read that book...i have it written down, i just haven't been able to hit the bookstore thanks to the camp i had to go to last week....oh well, i'll get there eventually

no such thing as ominous castles being too tall. make the tops spikey and high up a mountain with turrets, turrets i say!

yeah, i always wanted to live in a castle. very gormenghastish - wud be fun to explore, tho mebbe scary that anyone could be hiding out in there and it wud take u hours to get from one side to the next!
they definitly give the chaos and disorderness alreet!

You couldn't be in a castle all on your own....I'd never sleep! I could sleep on my own in a tiny little place cos you'd be aware of everywhere, y'know, bt as you say in a castle there could be anyone around in the west wing while you were in the east. Suppose thats one of the reasons for servants, bit of company.

i suppose - id prob juz have to have about 3 locked doors with bells on or sumut, i hate sleeping with doors open anyway. mebbe it wud be kl to live in one room - like they do in halls in some places. like, ur bed at one end, kitchen at the other, with a shower in the corner. i could easily live like that. but id need a friend to live in a castle that i could could explore...

Wow i really like this, i think the scattered line of the houses gives it more fantasy like! The little black guys are well kool!

this has a great sense of fun in it
i like the little guys jumping around - what are those 'trope' things called where you have a series of linked poses that when it is spun in the "___trope" it makes them move? i cant remember what its called!
but yeah, it would make a great little anim

its called a zoetrope, couldnt remember what those things were either so had to find out, used to love making those things, bet they look mighty crap now. Ooh I suppose thats possible, but animation always takes sooo darn long

animation? oh god - i took screen caps of a 3 second dance move liza minelli does in cabaret and drew over 100 frames to get the animation and it took like two days before i finished it...so long but its so rewarding though isn't it!

first of all, it's a great piece. but the houses lack structure, the lines are just too scattered - especially around the wisps. the contrast is good, even though the middle parts are a bit too bright, but that's just my personal preference. now read my first sentence again and be happy.

Yes I completely agree with you, sometimes I stare and stare at things I've done, can 'feel' something is not right but cant pin it down. Thanks, I kinda didnt want to put that much detail into it, trying to cut down on the detail, and I understand about the brightness.
