"The HMS Enforcer is the newest addition to the Royal Navy of Cormorant. She will be enlisted for patrols around the globe, hunting down any pirate they come across. Of course, in case of any emergency to the kingdom, she will be called back to support the fleet with her surpreme fire power.
Equiped with the newest, most powerful Airscrew Turbines of the kingdom, she is able to manouver at high speeds, despite of her massive weight. Having learned from the mistakes in the past, the kingdoms' scientists have equiped the ship with two spare GGI's (Gyroscopic Gravity Inverter) in case of malfunction of the original one."

I am really happy about this one! A million thanks go out to Tomek for making this possible!

what provides the lift for the ship? i know the air screws provide thrust.

yes. that would be a device called "the Gyroscopic Gravity Inverter". It is reinforced in the hull and when activated, it lifts up everything that is connected to the hull. Of course, it has to be tighten in quite a lot, because if it would break loose, it would be desastrous for the ship....

hmm... sounds interesting, and reminds me of some other lift-generators i've read about in books years ago (though the one that i can recall most clearly was a cast crystal glass thing from a Magic the Gathering short story, but was a similar concept)

yes, I've tried to let crystals and magic and the like out of it. I'd suppose it consumes large amounts of electricity to power the electro magnets that somehow move around in a gyroscopic manner, thus creating a strong magnetic field that lifts up the ship...something like that. or do you have any better idea? ^^

well i was working on some ideas for a story/web comic... basically the main power source in the setting are these Aetheric reactors that provide energy of some sort... basically a steampunk-esq nuke reactor of some type. Also steam turbines are always a good way to generate electricity, although to generate enough for a G.G.I. to work you'd have to have either a crap load of small turbines or several HUGE ones. personally i'd suggest many smaller ones. if one goes down the overall performance isn't dramatically affected.

also i was watching Oban Star-Racers and noticed one of the racers had a ship that moved through the use of some sort of Planetary magnetism, although that ship had no visably moving parts

hmmm...steam turbine powered generators....yes, I think that would work. I'll have to work it out in detail.

yes I hope so ^^ I think I have a man on my hands who will do some neat miniatures
oh, but please do your s on the original deviation Just that the artist gets the love he deserves. ^^ other than that, you could always feature the project somehow or watch us if you want to get the word out, we would be delighted
thx
