Thanks again, I don't do a lot of realistic stuff because I have trouble getting clothes and the full anatomy just right... need references. But faces are fun to do.

Well it took a lot of practice lots of references and lots of horrid attempts to get here. If you work at it and don't' give up, you can do it.

I don't know, i started learning to draw like this in high school... this particular picture? Well since it is just a close up portrait... a couple days to finish. probably about 16 hours of drawing I think.

Well the first step is to find a photograph that you like and just try it. Post it on dA, and get feedback... even a little will help. Look at it and find out everything you don't like about it, and then research ways to overcome those trouble spots... lets say you decide you hate how you made the lips look, so you look for lip references and tutorials on lips. Try again, and repeat the process. That is how you self teach yourself to draw. That is how I did it. Though since it is so time consuming to draw one, and because when I started, I tended to be a draw a picture in a day type of person, there were long breaks between attempts... which was also good because it gives you time to really scrutinize you work.

I se, I see ..
Can I use a drawing made by me, too ? :3
or it's easier to start with a pic?

Well what ever you are comfortable with... but for starters, you usually want to do portraits first... and having a reference for shape structure and lighting is very helpful. What I used to do was try to redraw a picture I did before, and use a reference of a face that had the lighting I wanted to help me. It doesn't have to be a photograph either, it can be a drawing that looks real as well... as long as you make sure to give credit to the person you are referencing. And you want to ask them first. If you take that rout, make sure to ask someone who isn't overly popular, they tend to ignore most messages do to an overload on their part. You would never get a reply.

Good luck... and if you want feedback when you finish a drawing, I can happily give it, just swing by and ask. ^^

When I finish, I'll try to start :3
