How do you submit a picture to the "Astrophotography" section? It doesn't show up on my list of categories when submitting a picture. Do you have to be a premium member?

Very very nice. Did you used a tripod, because it's kinda blurry?

Looks kind of grainy. Very cool, but I think it may have looked better with a smaller aperture (higher f/)

That is one awesome pic!!
Is that really your first astropic?!!!! Only a 15 sec exposure! It looks like it must be a really dark site where you were. the band of the milky way has come out well. I love widefield astro pics. The house in the foreground is a great idea.

Wow. I love how this tiny little house seems to be the lone occupant of the universe.

This is really very pretty...the milky way looks fantastic. Believe it or not, I only saw it clearly myself for the first time last week when I was camping out. It is rarely so dark at night because I live on the outskirts of the city but maybe because it was so late...like 3 oclock in the morning...I was able to see it. It is an awesome pic anyway..well done!

= P This looks very good! There is quite a lot of noise and compression etc. But fundementally the picture here is very good!

love your work! you have some truly beautiful pieces. I need to get me a camera that can shoot like this. Mine does 15 second exposure but doesn't seem to pick up enough light. this is just one photo qight? not a few combined. I read your specs and I believe my camera has all those settings....hmmmmm

maxholanda In reply to emilymartian [2005-04-11 13:33:11 +0000 UTC]

thank you emily yes this is just one photo, no composition.. just a little bit of PhotoShop Levels... what´s your camera? maybe the "problem" is the size of the CCD.

I've got a canon S70 powershot 7.1mpx, it will allow me up to 15 seconds on the manual setting. I'm not sure if it has another setting which would allow me to hold it open longer. I don't think so though. I just need to buckle down and come up with the mony for a non point and shoot camera. it does some pretty amazing stuff though, you just don't have as much flexability. It's when I see work like yours my gears get spinning. I don't know what a CCD is

It's awesome, especially for a first try. Honestly, this is really friggin' sweet. I have the same camera, only the focus ring is kinda wobbly, so I can never get a sharp focus on the sky, and the autofocus can't either. But this is indeed sweet. Where on planet earth did you take this picture? There were lots of stars out, yes?

Thanks for taking the time to list all of that. I wish I had known some of those settings last night when I took this: [link] This rarely happens here, but I'm still glad that I witnessed it.
