Description EDIT: I've just retouched this quite a bit because parts of it were bothering me. It looks a lot better now... I think.


Just a portrait of my Mephistopheles again. I've been working on it on and off for a while, but I actually really like how it turned out. He's just too fabulous and fun to draw~ (...Tone down that eye makeup, you trollop! ) Hopefully more of him and Faust to come soon. I was fortunate enough to see a production of one of the Faust operas recently too, which was pretty fantastic.

But shadows on a face looks better, then 1-st version. Nice update.

I did, finally. I was really happy to actually see it performed. Both of the lead actors were really good too. I'd like to see the play version of it too at some point, if anyone still does it anymore. XD

No, I had 450 with Paul Chidester. I had 422 with John last spring, so I'm not really sure how he runs a painting class. He's a really sweet guy though and I've never known him to be overly harsh. I'm sure you'll like him. Give him my regards if you get the chance. XD

Well the make-up could be less, but then, he's supposed to be the embodiment of seduction/temptation, so... why not.
I like the brows very much, didn't notice those before.

Gosh he's just beautiful. The way you've coloured his skin makes it look so soft and the lighting is perfect. I really love his eyes - that purple make-up is gorgeous and those eyelashes and glisten in his eye are stunning. His hair looks so pretty too, the way it curls and catches the light and I love the outfit as well. You've really coloured this wonderfully and I can see that this must have taken so long because the attention to detail is outstanding. Every little thing is coloured excellently - the earrings, the brooch, the headdress, the eyelids - everything about this is eye-candy! ^-^

Thank you so much~ I work super slow, so it really did take me forever. I couldn't even hazard a guess... But, that's the price of detail. XD I try to apply the same techniques for lighting and layering that I learned doing oil painting for digital, because it all works pretty much the same way. Still learning...

Anyway, thanks for always leaving me such detailed comments. I really appreciate it.

Not too bad. Have about 8-10 sketches ready for line art...gotta get ready for the cons this summer...gonna have dealer room tables most likely for AnimeNEXT and Otakon. After I get some stuff done for some of the new series that are popular I'm going to go back and work on CC and my old Yoko picture...probably Samus too. Been busy between that and school....how bout you hope all is well...maybe we can hang out during spring break, or if your up in state college or wanna come up lemme know! Would be nice to have company lol ...maybe you and Jenna can both come up the same weekend.

Oh, cool. Can't wait to see em. I'm trying to make some time for personal work too between school stuff. I'd like to give the AnimeNEXT table a try too. I've been meaning to come up there and visit at some point, but I haven't had the chance yet. I'll certainly let you know if I do make it to State College though. Bwhahaha- I can finally say I've read Faustus. Had an AP Literature final, saw it on the list, maybe screamed a little too hysterically, and nabbed that book hard. ^^ Yes! So, happy to see another beautiful rendering of Meph from you and to finally truly know the background story. Now I'm jealous of you seeing it in opera! Well, thanks very much for getting me into Faustus, and as a sidenote- I love that purple tint, it makes me want to pet that luxurious hair and caress those lovely lips. Of course- now I'm even more aware of how screwed I'd probably be if I tried. (It'd be worth it.)

Ah, you got to read it? Wonderful. I'm so glad. I'm happy you read Marlowe's version too, since Goethe's seems to be so much more prevalent. I first read it in a Reading Drama class my first semester of college, but I didn't realize how crazy I was over until later. Yay~ Now I know you'll always be able to relate to whatever I'm talking about!

The opera production was pretty cool. It was great to actually see it performed. What I saw was actually a live HD feed to a theater from the Metropolitan Opera in New York. My only real gripe was that the director decided to swap the 17th century setting for WWII era (because that's apparently what all the cool kids are doing nowadays... :/)They did dress them in some pretty spiffy suits though.

And thank you~ Haha, if you don't mind being eviscerated in your study 25 years from now, it's certainly worth a try.
