This is gonna be hard to explain:

Not really and not as such. You see, Desperate Housewives is supposed to be (was supposed to be)a satire of the Soap Opera genre. Cougar Town is more like... well... a more insipid version of Friends, only they're older, with a LOT of Scrubs like dialogue and situations (considering it's the same creator and writers) but without the charm of either. Best I can explain it. And only main ONE of the women actually is both 40 and trying to reclaim her youth... one's married, one's a 20-20 something slut. And they all share the SAME personality. Except one's mean.

Still, not a fun show. It's lost on me entirely.

I agree with Grouchy.

I saw only one clip of "Cougar Town," and I found it nothing but a lame scandal show about women dating men that are younger/older then thenm to make them look good and young.

Well, it was supposed to be that concept, but they did move away from it, almost naming the show in the process. It's more about a group of personality devoid 30-40 year olds (men and women) in their perpetual 20's with more money than they deserve acting like idiots for 30 minutes. I didn't hate the first episode, but the show just kept getting lamer and lamer with each subsequent episode till it became unwatchable.

If they did decide to change the name now, they really should call it "One Dimensional Annoying People Town."

Plus, I said this out loud in a Grouchy voice and laughed solidly for 20 minutes.
