New York is such a large and beautiful city. It’s a city that should be seen not only from ground level, but from high above as well. And, well…that’s what we did. I’m usually so hesitant about going on ANYTHING that’s more than two stories high…but everyone coaxed me into going onto the top of the Empire State building. They said you couldn’t have the “complete New York experience” without doing it. After an hour and a half of waiting to get on some crowded stuffy elevator with people I didn’t know. And immediately—gravity, or the lack of gravity hit me. I felt like I had been drugged on medications…I did –not- like being that high up off the ground.But as soon as the cold New York air hit me at 85 stories above the ground, my eyes widened. New York was…so beautiful at night! It was almost as beautiful as that painting “The Starry Night”…even though there were no stars visible—the lights of the city and the skyscrapers and advertisements from the city below were the stars. It was…breathtaking.

Yeah, you can't have the complete New York experience without doing it!! Amazing! Elevator and queue are awful, but it's worth it, isn't it?

gorgous photograph. i took one so similar to that when i went up there in febuary i was FREEEZING. i know how hard it is to get a nice photograph up there without it all going funny. congrats on a well nice shot. it is so breathtaking up there.

Actually, I'm deathly afraid of heights, so I was more afraid of falling off the edge and/or passing out, so I didn't notice if it was cold or not. I was taking pictures to calm my nerves. LOL.

Pictures like that make the city so pretty. I live on Long Island, so I've been there more times than I can count. I wish I lived further away from it so the city would seem more pretty to me. ^^

this is a nice capture... I've been wanted to see New York (don't get me wrong... I could never live there! I couldn't stand living in the city) because the idea of such a giant city simply puzzles me.
The most I've seen is Dallas and Houston. They don't compare much to what this looks like!

I loved New york when I went there last year. I went to the top and it was all foggy! I couldn't see anything. You were lucky that it was clear.

Wow, thats mindblowing, I gotta see something like that in person someday. An hour and a half is a hell of a long time to wait for an elevator though, you could have probably taken the stairs faster
