I'm so surprised I haven't commented on this piece! This is marvelous! I see a lot of symbolism in this piece. I love the color schemes and the contrast of warm and cool colors, really makes a nice impact.Β

I honestly get a religious vibe from this piece. I see the face of Jesus or God in the sky and a pale Lucifer in the bottom portion of the painting. The pears resemble the human souls heading to God for Judgement Day. The flowing water is the sins that constantly flow from humans, cascading down and creating Lucifer's face. The two planets in the sky are floating around in space---the heavens.

There's just so much going on in this piece I could interpret it in so many different ways! Simply amazing Keep up the fabulous work, Moira! Β

Wow, amazing concept as always! Hmm the things that are in and out of reach and the choice of which one you reach out for no matter the distance...This brings a question to mind though. You know when an artist draws out their frustration into a drawing, do you think the negative feelings leave them and just evaporates or does it become part of the drawing in a sense and reminds them of the negative feelings rather than the healing process of drawing it. Hope that makes sense .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mivala In reply to AnonTheDarkOne [2013-04-13 01:23:39 +0000 UTC]

Makes perfect sense~!
That's sort of what I thought about in making this. It feels like all the negativity subsides when I can capture it in a moment or brushstroke or what have you. At the same time... I can't help but feel that maybe it's not a healthy way of solving problems? Art puts me in denial, in a way. I feel so much better after drawing or painting, like nothing bad ever happened. And the result (like this) is like an entry in a diary -- as long as I keep painting or making entries, I'll always have something to look back on. I keep a journal too and it offers me the same type of solace, because it's easy to forget what it's like to be truly happy or truly mad (and I've been both). When I revisit these old entries and works of art, I feel a little less alone (if that makes sense!? lol)~

AnonTheDarkOne In reply to Mivala [2013-04-13 05:47:06 +0000 UTC]

It's almost as if you cut and paste the memory itself into the artwork. Most interesting . Ah, that's a nice analogy with art being like a diary . So, I guess it has it's pros and cons...I think I get what you mean by little less alone, but do you think you can clarify just in case?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Mivala In reply to AnonTheDarkOne [2013-04-13 22:23:23 +0000 UTC]

Just knowing that I've felt certain ways before is comforting, I guess. I can recognize my own traits and that makes me more prepared and feel less alone in that... I never lose my old self, I suppose. It's complex.O:
