I haven't been to Gettysburg in almost 5 years. It's definitely time to go again. I love it there.

I myself am fond of the contrast in this. Not only between the tree and sky, but also the canon and sky.

How I wish I could go to Gettysburg.

What a masterful photograph. A very lonely picture as well. I imagine many a brave spirit were mourned and honored beneath beneath that tree.

Very beautiful.

Ahhh, I'm sure you've heard this a million times before, but this is a truly beautiful shot. The sepia tone works amazingly well with the subject. This picture has a really lovely authentic feel to it. Very good work with the border as well. Love it muchly.

This is great. I visited Gettysburg years ago and was very moved. The history was almost overwhelming.
I have the same issue with this photo as the others; the top border. Just make it the same width as the sides and I think everyone will stop mentioning it.

this is such a cool photo. the lifeless sky really works well and the cannon is almost silhouetted which looks really cool.
love all your photography.

keep it up,

There is almost another meaning with this piece. How the cannon is sitting there alone. A great shot for sure.

I like this. I really enjoy anyting that has to do with the Civil War. As the others say I like your use of the sepia tone. It makes it seem as though it is from the civil war era. As for the frame? The top yes I think I would make it the same width as the sides. This is a beautiful composed photo, I'm sure you could sell prints of this if you wanted to. +fav

I love this photo mooboy... excellent, excellent, excellent.

I am a frame guy... I probably would have made a 1 pixel black frame around the picture. However, I see that some others like the white on white effect... so I guess it is a matter of taste. Fonts are excellent. Perhaps lowering the line under Gettysburg to be centered between your name and the Gettysburg. I also agree with the comment of the top frame. Perhaps making it as wide as the left and right frames may seem better.

I happen to like this deviation a lot... thus the reason for the huge comment... reminded me of Frails church image we use at deviantMISSION. On the description section, I would add " Freedom isn't cheap, just because it's free."

this is really nice!! i love the use of the white border instead of black like your other submits. it works extremely well with this piece. the cannon speaks volumes about the events that you're capturing here, very lonely and desolate.. but STRONG. the sepia is a definate plus it really brings the old feel to the piece. very very strong piece you have here. i love it!

It is most sexy. The only flaw - or unsexy part- is the top border. It doesnt look right to me. Still an exccelent shot, well captured.

What do you think i should have done here? Made it twider or just take the top frame out? I didn't have a 'it's done' vibe when I was was ready to upload for this very reason. i kept looking over the frame.

Tell me tell me tell me! My precious!

Your top border is too thin compared to the other side borders and it gives it that off center feel.

Nice use of framing here, love how the picture feels endless and the "edge" simply bleeds into the white. Your sepia tones here are really wonderful, they give such a feeling of old to this pic. It looks like a great memorial. Nice shot
