Fantasy satire humour
and then it depends on which books you read. They all take place on the Discworld.
Some are "epic" journeys, some are crime based, some are about self discovery etc etc. Depends on who's story you are reading.

It's my favorite series and Sir Terry Pratchett is my favorite author.
The Discworld Series didn't have a nailed down genre, but it was mainly fantasy, with a lot of other things touched on.
My works can't do it justice, so I implore you to read it.

Honeslty. It's so hard to pick a place to start with his Discworld books. They are all set in the same world but that's about it.
I think you'd get a pretty good general feel if you went
"Mort" then "Wyrd sisters" and then "the truth". They are all separate stories.
if you aren't fond of either of those three by the end of reading them, I don't think I can help you.
A good general readers guide to Discword just doesn't exist.

It's a very difficult series to start.
I read the chronologically and that worked great for me as I loved the high fantasy satire as a kid who knew lots of fantasy tropes and had DnD'd.
But as a grown up I appreciate his later work for it's historical and real world satire baked in to a fantasy world.
Some people prefer to only read about the high fantasy Wizards and other like his more Urban historicals with the City watch.
I love all the shakespere refs in the early books ^^
