Description This is a print from last semester. It was too big to fit on the scanner so I was finally able to photograph it with the help of my dad. At the time this was the biggest piece I had done up to that point and I am very pleased with how it came out. I recall vividly each layer took me 8 hours to carve and 2 hours to print. T_T hopefully I will be able to frame it soon instead of having it rolled up for years.

The piece is 18"x24"

very nice. yeah, what's his face, the guy in the wheelchair with the giant portraits... crap. i'm an art teacher i should know this... he did the same thing with the photoshop filter, but on a much larger scale.

oh yeah!

I think it can work well in large detailed prints. Honestly I don't know how I could have done that one otherwise. But I feel like it's not as expressive as working from the reference directly.

Do you mean Chuck Close? He's crazy good.

i agree completely.

yeah, chuck close. did you follow the link in my last post?

look in my prints gallery. i'm working on a large portrait of my brother-in-law. about 4x5 feet. not finished yet, still working on it. but being a teacher and daddy to two boys takes a LOT of my time. enjoy your youth and make LOTS of art while you have time, you're really good and it can take you places.
good luck!

Oh, this is beautiful. I love how clean your printing is, and your choice of colors is just gorgeous. The light coming through the trees is particularly nice- I like how it looks chaotic at first glance but is still perfectly clear.

Thanks! I used a filter in Photoshop to help simplify the reference so I could manage to digest it. LOL I love how it is completly abstract up close and then it comes together at a distance. My mom chewed me out for only printing 6 of them.

Haha, really only six? I'd probably have wanted to chew you out too. But hey, that rarity makes them more valuable in the long run, right?

I would have done more but the art supply store was closed!!! And I didn't have time to wait! That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Thanks!

Your digital landscapes would translate into beautiful silk screen. Have you ever tried that process?

I've only done one color silk-screen, and pretty simple ones at that.

I'm hoping next year when I'm back home to do more printing... for now I'm just trying to work on my drawing and storytelling skills (when I can find the time).

Thanks for your question.
