Description Photo taken in June, 2014 @ BestZOO, The Netherlands

I know I've posted a photo of this Otter pup before, with that little piece of wood, but this photo turned out so well, I couldn't resist submitting it as well
I hope you like it!

Species: Oriental Small-Clawed Otter (Aziatische Kleinklauwotter)

Latin name: Aonyx Cinerea

Originates from the Oriental.

Current status: Near Threatened

 Did you know:

…The Oriental Small-Clawed Otter naturally is named after its claws; they do not extend beyond the fleshy end pads of its partially webbed fingers and toes.

Silly pup... you're an otter; an OTTER! Not a beaver!

Yeah, they don't get it
But animals behaving out of the norm are so adorable

I just want to hug this little guy! Preferably when his parents aren't around, I still want my face intact.

Haha, I can totally understand
I've often felt like sticking out my hand to touch them because when you stand on a certain side of the enclosure they come running towards you (they're getting fed from this side). But then you see their pointy little teeth and you think twice
They're still wild animals and not always too kind even to each other.

Otters can be quite the friendly companions, I've seen plenty of instances of even wild ones coming right up to people and playing.

And there's this place.

Plus, they've even been tamed by many cultures to fish for people, it's still done in Bangladesh.
Even with domesticated animals you don't want to just go up and pet them, you never know how they'll react.
What unfriendly things do they do?

Those links are awesome

Now that the pups are getting bigger, they're starting to bite each other, pester one another a bit more.
It sort of reminds me of the way the Raccoon Dogs in a different zoo started treating each other when they got older (they're harder to watch as they're treating their parents rather viciously...)
