Description somewhere in time back end of 2011, ziga (~cmrlj , the previous !KorpiHunaja ) asked for a collaboration to do another trilingual haiku zine. after many exchange of e-mails, i managed to finish the japanese translation for his slovene haiku and because the image in my mind are so captivating, i told him i'll do ink painting to illustrate for the cover of this mini zine.

here, see what i have done: not one but two paintings. one for the beginning, a black-and-white version of river drava in winter and another for the end, a color version of the same river in spring.

the theme of this zine is winter and all six haiku are ziga's work. i worked on their translation and the paintings, and contributed to the cyber version some commentaries.

a hard copy of the minimalistic version of ziga's original zine is available if you are interested in savoring the haiku as it is.
minimalism is good, especially for haiku.

No. But Polish is a little similar to Slovene and translator helped a bit. Besides, even with the language problems I can appreciate the whole.

wow, this came out fantastic! i can be less guilt-ridden now for not providing you with any 'sunset on the drava' photos yet.

the boats are not typical for this region, and the river looks more docile than it is here, but if you'd follow it a bit further to the southeast, where the hills turn to plains, you'd most likely come across a section of it that would look much like this. splendid!

thank you once again!

these two photos of drava are in the croatia region.

i'm glad you like them.

your sunsets over the mountain range photos are put to good use anyway. my digital class pupils have used it as reference to do landscape painting on photoshop. thank you for the help!

hah, to avoid sparking off any diplomatic incidents, let's just clarify that croatia is a country, not a region. but it and slovenia were both yugoslav republics once.

thought the boats looked somewhat pannonic though.

hope i'll see those alpine shots once as well.

thanks again! (:
